Grand Seiko follows Tanaka's Grammar of Design, which calls for perfectly flat polished surfaces, high contrast between different parts of the case, Zaratsu polishing, etc. That makes it hard to create a tank watch. You are more likely to see tank watches
The case design is my least favorite from among GS' current lineup, but I do find the dial quite beautiful. The SD movement appears to be the essentially the same as the one in my Credor Kuon (sans the ripples), so I can vouch for its fine, trouble-free p
