Thanks Emmanuel for a great comparison!

Indeed, both beautiful watches. Last year, I thought I would love the 6196, which I did on paper, but it didn't sing to me on the wrist for some reason. And I've tried it on several times. The me 5227 looks amazing in pictures, perhaps a sort of younger l

Personally I would have liked

less salmon dial again as too many being produced. I thought both the 5227 and 5396 are due a new movement with longer power reserve and more interesting dials. I’m not a fan of these hands like the 6119 either. What would have impressed me would have bee

Excellent photographic comparative essay

The 5227 always felt "empty" at 12 with only one baton and the dauphine hands were too wide at the base. They have fixed both problems. Very appealing now to claim the classic Calatrava automatic mantle for this generation. I'm glad they didn't alter the

I prefer the 5227 compared to the 6196

I didn’t like the previous 5227s.. but for the salmon version, they make the bezel abit thicker.. I think it did wonders to the look.. The issue it I find the hands and markers to be really black.. it was quite jarring when I tried it..

To used the old cliche, similar yet so different!

Calatrava perfection! Each with their majestic charm! While the 5227G is (for me at least) the more rugged and practical younger brother, the 6196P remains my favourite. Not because of the metal, but the simplicity to which heightens its romanticism.

I'm a huge fan of the 5227.

And I find this version absolutely desirable. I couldn't say which I prefer, this one or my 5227g-001. 🤔

I have tried both in person

And whilst I was underwhelmed last year with the small seconds I really love the 5227 on my wrist. The proportions due to the lugs work much better for me and the dial looks so much better in its layout than with the small seconds. Actually this is crazy

The new 5227G

Patek Philippe released a new white gold variant of its Date & Sweep Seconds Officer's-style Calatrava : ref. 5227G-015 . credit: @chrono24 - photo captured by @nachoconde The first thing that is striking is the similarity in color and style to the pl

Many thanks Gordon for this extensive report about 2026 novelties

I was lucky to see them in W&W and not only in photo, it helps to have a better idea of the ones you like best... It's not easy to answer as many "novelties" aren't actual novelties but new color variations of existing references of the catalogue. I a

Great write up Gordon of a truly very special W&W for Patek. For me one of the very best in recent years, even going back to the Basel shows.

So many novelties to like/love, including the fabulous automaton, the ground breaking new Celestial (both in complications and design), daring and beautiful new dial colors (eg the lacquered dial 5270Ps), 5227G salmon, exceptionally sporty and beautiful b
