Montblanc Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphères – Part One

Avatar

The Montblanc Villeret manufacture is now also Montblanc’s movement and innovation excellence center. The manufacture, with the long history, accumulated expertise and tradition from Minerva, has over the past few years, developed very interesting high-end grand complications. Yes, the high end, finely finished chronographs from Montblanc Villeret are what they are famous for, since Minerva had always been well known for their chronographs. Equally impressive are their grand complications, for e.g...">Story

Face to face: Patek Philippe Chronograph 5070 versus 5170

Avatar

Gentlemen, This is a theme that comes on the table quite frequently: which chronograph do we prefer between the 5070 and the 5170 references? I won't give an answer to that question (if ever there is one). But as some buyers wish to enter the world of Patek chronographs from time to time and consider both of them, I thought it could be interesting to come around the subject in order to provide a little help and leaving a thread that some might find useful in the future. The 5070 familly There is of course ... ...">Story

BaselWorld 2015: Girard-Perregaux Vintage 1945 – Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges, 70th anniversary edition – Review and Live shots Friends, We all knew that Girard-Perregaux would release an Anniversary edition of the Vintage 1945 due to the 70 th anniversary this year! And that GP choose a Three Golden Bridges movement for the celebration can’t have come as a big chock for anyone. Precious metal XXL case – White Gold, 36,10 x 35,25 mm feels like a natural choice. Personally I think that the Three Golden ... ...">Story

The year 1963 was important for Chopard

Avatar

What is the most important item in this photograph taken at the Chopard Geneva Museum? Chopard watches on the Left made by Paul-Andre Chopard in the 1940s and 1950s. Eszeha watches on the Right by Karl Scheufele II and Karl Scheufele III in the 1940s and 1950s. The most important object is the pen that was used by Karl Scheufele III to sign the contract of purchase of Chopard in 1963. Karl Scheufele III bought Chopard & Cie from Paul-Andre Chopard, combining the experience and history of both Eszeha in Germany and Chopard in Switzerland...">Story

My first visit of the new Piaget boutique located 7 rue de la Paix in Paris

Avatar

I waited for long months the opening of the new Piaget boutique located 7 rue de la Paix. Actually, every Saturday, while doing my usual walk in the rue de la Paix (which is becoming more and more Richemont street), I was seeing the big signs on the building dedicated to this boutique. It was a very well known address because Montblanc was the former brand using these premises and I knew their potentials, the surface, the lay-out: without any doubt, the future Piaget boutique would be beautiful. And now, the wait is over! The boutique opened its doors a few days ago at the end of the month of April! So I couldn't miss the opportunity to visit it without any delay! I was not disappointed...">Story

Hands on review of the Patek Philippe Calatrava Pilot Travel Time 5524G

Avatar

The Calatrava Pilot Travel Time succeeded at least one of its missions: during the last Baselworld Fair, it was the most talked piece. I do not remember a Patek Philippe which caused so much ink to flow in recent years. It even suffered a barrage of criticisms which without any doubt had to make Thierry Stern smile because with Patek Philippe, the same causes generally cause the same effects: the more a Patek watch is criticized, the more it is desired in the future. And as collectors will not want to miss such an opportunity, they have already positioned themselves for the acquisition of this watch which will be, I imagine, very difficult to see in the boutiques...">Story

Sunday Picture - Omega Memomatic

Avatar

Team, Here is a Memomatic, the first (?) and unique (?) alarm watch made by Omega. The main difference between the Memomatic and the others alarm watch is the fact that it uses the same power barrel to the watch and the alarm. Here is one: The red "stuff" is a 70's Panasonic radio. A great Sunday to all, Nilo This message has been edited by nilomis on 2015-05-03 03:54:23...">Story

Isn’t it amazing what you may hear if you keep your eyes and ears open, meandering aimlessly along the boulevards of broken dreams in places like Paris or Zagreb? The following exchange was overhead (and, it seems, faithfully recorded!) in an unpretentious little sidewalk café where two swarthy, well-dressed men of indeterminate age were hunched over short, strong coffees, exchanging bawdy stories in a common language not their own, laughing like schoolgirls and smoking like chimneys. One of them looked a ... ...">Story

The Montblanc Watch Manufacture in Le Locle

Avatar
jrwong23 (aka watchthebin)
Before the merger with Minerva, the Montblanc manufacture at Le Locle is the only manufacture where Montblanc assembles and manufactures its watches, including the Star, Timewalker and Nicolas Rieussec collections. The Star collection began all the way from 1997, when the Le Locle manufacture was first established. The very first Nicolas Rieussec movement, reference MB R100, was convinced and developed in the Le Locle manufacture and launched in 2008. Subsequently, several more variants of the Nicolas Rieussec as well as the Twinfly Chronograph movement were developed and produced in the Le Locle manufacture...">Story
