The 176th year is a good year for
Patek Philippe, because the new pieces shown are very well balanced and fit
perfectly in the already impressive collection. There are three major
novelties, several (about 30, if we don´t count the pieces from the Rare
Handcrafts department) interesting iterations and not to forget a marketing
“bomb” – probably THE talk of BaselWorld 2015. In case you really missed the
later (hard to imagine, but anyway), I am not talking about any kind of smart
watch here – more on this later
The current collection
counts 241 (after BaselWorld) different models and there should be something
for almost any taste/occasion – still there is always the DNA of PP shown. The
latter is not self-evident and one of the strength of Patek Philippe. They
might not be the most innovative and fashionable company in the (sometimes
crazy) world of watches, but they always stick to their own roots. Evolution instead
of revolution and it works quite well for them, as we all know.
We already have seen quite
a few of the novelties and even started to discuss them here, so I won´t
prepare one BIG report like in the past. Instead I will add posts to this one,
with (live) pictures and personal comments by me. It will take some time, but I
will go ahead - step-by-step.
