There is currently at the Tag Heuer Boutique of Paris a small exhibition which gathers several historic pieces of the brand. It is a very useful exhibition for those who don't know well the history of Tag Heuer and of Heuer since it displays various iconic watches, some of them being subject of revival decades later. The exhibition highlights the wide range of style, of design and of purposes offered by Heuer. Most of them are chronographs but we can feel a large gap between the Autavia and the Montreal... a gap except the same will: to create perfect and easy to use timing instruments. The user of the watch was always in the brand mind and of course in Jack Heuer's one.
These pieces come from the Museum or were lent by collectors. Maybe some of you contributed to this exhibition?
Let's browse the main part of the watches.
This is the Autavia (AUTomobile and AVIAtion) from 1964. The first wrist chronograph with rotating bezel created by Jack Heuer:
This Silverstone from 1974 was worn by Clay Regazzoni. I love this "burgundy" color.
I was charmed by the dial of this Heuer Daytona from 1976:
This Heuer Monza from 1976 created for Niki Lauda inspired the Monza presented last year which won a prize at the GPHG 2016.
The Monaco from 1969 worn by Steve McQueen during the shooting of the "Le Mans" movie in 1970:
Another beauty with this Heuer Carrera from 1972 created by Jack Heuer as a homage to the "Carrera Panamericana".
A colorful Montreal from 1972:
From the tracks to the sea, this Skipper created in 1985 features a regatta countdown:
Maybe my fav piece of the exhibition was this lovely Camaro from 1970:
These watches and some others are visible at the Tag Heuer Boutique of Paris Capucines till the 28th of April. So if you are in Paris, don't miss this opportunity to plunge into Heuer history!
Thanks a lot to the staff of the boutique.
