Taking some time today to appreciate a little more my two Lange's. I've owned the 1815 for a little over 4 years now and that has been my go to watch for most days, as is evident from the scratches and hairlines on the case. No, I won't polish it off as I like how it looks and that it's shown signs of a life and journey.

I'm not a fan of complications, for a couple of reasons, servicing being one, and I do not like to spend time setting it up when it stops, so time only watches are usually my preference. No concern required for dates, AM/PM etc. Set to the time and be on my way.

I recently added the Saxonia to the collection, and is now the only rose gold watch that I have, and I like it a lot. Comparing this Saxonia to the 1815, the 1815 comes across as the more brash older brother who does some heavy lifting and handles a good mix of boardroom decisions while also rolling up sleeves every now and then, while the Saxonia is that younger brother who shows up in boardrooms with a well tailored suit and does more of the mental calculations. Both with very different levels of a commanding finesse, so to speak.

The case work is similar, can't say that they wear differently besides the size of 35mm and 38.5mm, and both are very comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. So different characters, and yet does look very similar at a glance. On the wrist, they feel significantly different - the applied indices and the printed numerals probably has a major contribution to that, but I can't really explain it. One feels casual and carefree, the other a little more formal, though I don't think it is out of place with a t shirt and jeans, but then again, this is a personal preference.

One has been with me 4 years and is a keeper, the other just joined the stable, and I have the same feeling that I've had when I bought the 1815 back then, so I have a good feeling that it will stay too.

About the A. Lange and Söhne Emil Lange Ref. 1815

The A. Lange & Söhne 1815 reference 206.032, introduced in 1999, is a notable example of the brand's commitment to traditional watchmaking principles. This model is part of the 1815 collection, which pays homage to the birth year of Ferdinand Adolph Lange and emphasizes classic design elements such as Arabic numerals and blued hands, drawing inspiration from historical Lange pocket watches. It represents a more understated and purist aesthetic compared to some of the brand's more complex offerings, focusing on fundamental horological excellence.

This particular reference features an 18k rose gold case measuring 36mm in diameter and 7.5mm in thickness. It houses the manually wound L941.1 caliber, visible through a sapphire crystal case back. The movement provides a power reserve of 45 hours. The watch is fitted with a sapphire crystal on the front, protecting a solid silver dial. Water resistance is rated at 30 meters, suitable for everyday wear but not for immersion.

The 1815 206.032 appeals to collectors who appreciate classical proportions and a focus on fundamental watchmaking without excessive complications. Its smaller case size reflects a more traditional approach to men's wristwatches, making it a desirable piece for those seeking a discreet yet highly refined timepiece. The combination of rose gold and a silver dial offers a warm and legible presentation, consistent with the collection's historical inspirations.

Enjoying such superb watches and not treating them too precious and simply wearing them is the real win here. Nice pair.

you have two of the nicest Lange watches in the current collection (with maybe the exception of the ultra thin Saxonia 37mm which had a nicer patina than the 35mm Saxonia which is only noticeable if you place them side by side but you lose the small seocnds counter). Enjoy these two superb dress watches!

looks a lot richer (a darker tone) when placed next to Saxonia 35mm which to me looks more attractive. I do like the dial on the 35mm Saxonia though.

I've a soft corner to 1815 more driven by the numerals, rail track - having said that Saxonia has its own elegance due to its size/propotions as a dress watch. Thanks for sharing & enjoy them in good health. Best, mahesh.,
