KIH offers an exclusive preview of A. Lange & Söhne's 'Never Stand Still 2012 Tour' in Tokyo, detailing the meticulously planned event structure for media, retailers, and clients. His initial impressions, captured through a series of photographs, focus on the exquisite Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon. This post sets the stage for a deeper dive into Lange's commitment to horological excellence and client engagement.

It has started.  First stop is Tokyo.  There will be 5 days - one for media, one for retailers, one for clients group 1, one for clients group 2, and one foe Lange Owners Club.  I am to be invited on 8th, which is the last evening, but I went there just to get the preview and would like to get you the gist of it.  Will report the "dinner" after I have tasted it smile

The invitation - saying that my date is 8th, Monday.  I am always amazed at the design of those things of Lange.

The "normal" entrance of the venue - "Restaurant-I", very, very good, I heard...

Here you go.

Today is 6th.....

Okay, here we are.  THE Lange 1 Perpetual Calendar Tourbillon WTH MOVEMENT (but locked and I couldn't handle it)

Sorry for too many L1 Perpetual Tourby pics...

The theme of the decoration is "Opera".....

Bar counter

Normally where Maitre d' is...  As always, Lange converted the place COMPLETELY just for 5 days.

Corridor...

At the end of the corridor is L1 Perpetual Tourbillon...

Opera related items...

The mask of the "Phantom of the Opera".....

This room is for THREE watchmakers from Glashutte to demonstrate each area..

Brought in three watchmakers desks....

Next room is the main dining room for the event.

Pics on the walls are very Lange, too....

Back to the demonstration room...  The first up is our Martin Jonas who taught us at Lange Akademie last July.  He is showing the assembling and de-assembling of the new Grand Lange 1 movement.

Showing the newly developed barrel which got bigger, thus can accommodate longer main spring, thus one barrel is enough.

Balance module...

Now it is alive again smile

The next desk is finishing.  I believe the guests can try it.

The last desk is for engraving.  This gentleman, too, met with us at the Akademie.

Balance cocks for Datograph.  Lower half are complete and upper half is to be done.

He makes it look so easy....

Thank you all!  See you again on Monday!

That's it for preview.  This year, they have poured the resources for this event more than ever.  Look forward to it when the event comes near you!

Special thanks to:
Those watchmakers who came over from Glashutte
A. Lange & Sohne Japan team (especially the NEW brand CEO of Japan, Mr. Edmond Boussemart - Welcome aboard!)
The office of LOC

Stay tuned for the dinner report....

Ken
