Mahesh's initial impressions of the AkriviA Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Antimagnétique for Only Watch 2023 offer an invaluable first look at a timepiece designed to honor historical anti-magnetic chronometers. His detailed breakdown of its unique features, from the Faraday cage construction to the new central hacking seconds movement, sets the stage for a deeper exploration into AkriviA's commitment to precision and horological innovation. This article synthesizes community reactions, providing a comprehensive perspective on this significant release.

First impressions…Synonymous to the name AkriviA, Rexhep Rexhepi have crafted Chronomètre Contemporain 1 and 2 focused on timekeeping precision.

For Onlywatch 2023, Rexhep continues with this tradition and also aims to pay tribute to the historical anti-magnetic chronometers.

The Rexhep Rexhepi Chronomètre Antimagnétique (RRCA) for the OW2023 is presented in steel case with a brand new movement with central hacking seconds. The movement ring, case back, and dial plate form a Faraday cage that protects the movement against magnetism.

The timepiece is 38 x 9,9 mm and 48mm between lugs

Dial : Black grand feu enamel dial built on silver base. Base dial is hand-engraved first and then all markers filled with gold enamel to fuse permanently.

Hands The hour, minutes and seconds hands are hand-made from gold.  I love the stepped minute hands and the 'lightning' seconds hand....details !

Movement : Manually wound chronometer with 72 hours power reserve featuring central hacking seconds ticking at 3 Hz frequency. The single barrel movement features swiss lever escapement with a shock resistant 10,4mm dia balance. Bridges and plates are made of Lead-free German-silver, of course hand finished with traditional perlage, anglage, black polish et al…in other words, finished to AkriviA standard ! Mainspring made from a corrosion-resistant alloy that is also non-magnetic. Winding mechanism incorporates a pawl to prevent over-winding of mainspring

The screw-down outer case back can be removed by simple rotation, allowing the wearer to admire the movement and its hand finishing and of course lock it back ;-)

and Finally...

Case : Very first steel case by Mr. Jean-Pierre Hagmann and the stepped case design is beautifully done… and is made of 30 components.

Personally I’m excited by RRCA…Manually wound chronometers are hard to see these days and on top I like central seconds and enamel dial.

I also like the Ripstop fabric for strap which goes well with the character of the timepiece.

Considering it is OW2023, it goes out for a good cause, I’m curious to see what Rexhep will offer on the production version of RRCA !

Thanks for reading, please share your thoughts…

Best,

Mahesh.,

Definitely an asperational timepiece for those who desire the very, very best!

The dial looks like something you’d see on an Atelier de Chronometrie. Any idea what level of magnetism protection the cage provides? Is this the first hacking-seconds RRCC So many questions about this watch, especially since it’s got the legend/icon’s name on the dial Hussam

this makes it even more inaccessible !

It's my favorite independent, but the pricing and their low production numbers make his watches impossible to get

Non, it is not first the hacking second. Earlier RRCC were zero-reset and RRCA is the first central seconds he has done (other than a regulator in the Akrivia line) On anti-magnetism, I'm not 100% technically sure on what i'm about to write so i'll confirm again... Ferritic steel is used for case and other steel components while hands are gold. Ferritic steel above certain grade are what we say ferromagnetic...meaning they'll be influenced by magnetic field but on the same direction of the field
