Long-time collector aviya shares his meticulously curated 'Lange family,' a quartet of A. Lange & Söhne timepieces unified by their pink gold cases and mahogany straps. His deep appreciation for the 1815 collection and the precision of the Richard Lange offers a masterclass in focused collecting. Aviya's insights into specific calibers and design nuances provide invaluable context for both new and seasoned enthusiasts.
Hello,
I am a long-time Lange collector and lurker here: I really enjoy the forum, hearing about each of you, the magnificent photography and - of course - seeing your magnificent Lange pieces!
Here is a photo of my current Lange family. I go for pink gold - I find it beautiful, warm and classy. I always pair it with mahogany Lange OEM straps and the simple pin buckles.
I started as an 1815 collector and fell in love with the model family from the very start. It's just very sweet to me.
- The 1815 three-hander was my first piece - I had the OG model in 36mm and now have the 38.5mm model shown here. Those blued hands! Works brilliantly with a white shirt and blue suit.
- The 1815 Up/Down is my favourite piece right now. I like the origin of the complication's planetary mechanism from the in-house patent and also the echo of the subdials with the 1815 Chronograph.
- The 1815 Chronograph, of course, has my favourite caliber: the astonishing L951.5. Mine has the latest revision to the escapement wheel bridge. A striking piece with the best pusher feel of any chronograph.
- The Richard Lange is the precision play in the collection. With the in-house balance spring and the dual-tensioned wheel in the centre-seconds drive-train to eliminate flutter - it's a quiet delight. Best rate accuracy.
I hope you enjoy the photo and I look forward to participating in the forum.
Best regards, aviya.
