Hs111 shares his profound appreciation for Breguet's classical design, introducing his new acquisition, the Breguet Calendar Ref. 7337. This post delves into the historical inspirations and intricate details that make this timepiece a cherished addition to his collection, building on his existing love for the Breguet Marine.

Friends, some of you may know, that I am the happy owner & frequent wearer of the
Breguet Marine, Grand Date, Ref 2998.

I am always more than fascinated by the amalgamation of a truly modern sportive watch,
with clear classic DNA signs of design & appeal. I am specifically enchanted by the central
spiral-type of Guilloché and a very balanced appeal, yet with modern DNA features.
( AFAIK, I share this Ref. with several members here, such as Richard N, Alkiro & Bill,
just to name a few.)

Here is just a reference photo of this beloved Reference, which I have in my stables,
now for something like 2,5 years, which I cherish since then & wear quite a lot.

A versatile companion - A true GADA watch („Go Anywhere, Do Anything“)

It subsequently turned out, that I always have admired the DNA & codes of Breguet’s
Classique line, holding up the torch of classical watch design, dating as far back as to the
18/19th century, whereby a certain representative of this Classique family had occupied
my thoughts and desire..:

Classical size & layouts, the famous scissors hands, a great case with
the coin-edged sides, as well as the fine craftmanship, going back as far as A.L. Breguet himself.
For me also one of the key recognition points are the fine, even perfect field of
main Guilloché on the silver dials and the art of utilizing and beautifying free space on dials.

This ability to display complications of a very classical kind, eg the Moon Phase, but also
Day & date on the calendar models is especially alluring, combining usefulness & aesthetic aspects..

In fact, I already had been looking and scouting for one of the „Classic of Classics“ watches, complications and indications; it comes in a nice 39mm case with a quite compelling silver dial, with lots of fine Guilloche work, which harmonizes a real lot with the overall appeal of this Calendar , Day/Date model, i.e. with the Ref.Nr of 7337.

It is further interesting that its layout goes back to some of the well known design codes of
famous A.L. Breguet and to the late 18th./19.th century. Specifically, a famous pocket watch layout
of the Breguet Ref 3833 served as an almost complete vivid role- model for this new family of watches and also complications.

Although I initially was more drawn to the WG model
( if I remember correctly, Kari aka Dr Kol
owns this Ref. in WG). – But after a number of deliberations, trials, & eye shopping,
it soon turned out that it would be the RG version, looking a bit warmer, without being too
fancy which entered into the centre of my scope.

After some 1,5 years of scouting, looking and trying, „my version“ of the 7337, NOS from
2015 could be sourced, ( Came all complete with Box & Papers, and I then could secure
this acquisition) !

After unpacking and initial looking, I am now in the process of understanding, and fully embracing, but even more realizing the fulfillment of my wish, whichreally proves perfect for me.

I therefore thought to briefly share here some initial, rather quick pics of my new arrival to
make us acquainted with this new marvel in my stables.

– For me it has a perfect size of 39mm, the luxurious but not exuberant layout, with the typical Breguet scissors hands and the often used Roman numbers, also typical for Breguet; finally it renders a beautifully designed moonphase and face,
pretty much 19th century art & time-phase, which I truly love.

Some other special, other features are the side view with the signed crown, and the coin
edge pattern and in addition also a very nice movement view with an excentric gold
Guilloche ornamented half rotor, which adds a bit of a luxurious aspect;
all components definitely a pleasure to look at them, IMHO

A truly balanced face..

Also a pleasureful view on the movement

Also from the sides a lovely view; 9,9 mm height

Hope you liked that little Breguet excursion into timeless great design & character,
looking back but with a timeless appeal.

To me this appears especially attractive when historical roots are followed
with such extraordinary passion & dedication.

As concerned for myself, I truly like my most recent Calendar arrival into the
appreciated Breguet section of my stables, in fact.. quite a lot !!

Cheers & Best to all !
