Dr. Tabby, known as Spangles on WatchProSite, shares a compelling look at several Breguet timepieces and a Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle, offering a unique perspective on potential acquisitions for 2018. His original post provides a valuable snapshot of collector preferences and considerations from that era, highlighting specific models and design elements that continue to resonate with enthusiasts today. This discussion offers insights into the tactile experience of luxury watches, particularly the winding mechanisms, which remain a crucial, often overlooked, aspect of ownership.

The Breguet Heritage 5410 is a distinctive timepiece within the brand's collection, characterized by its tonneau-shaped case. This model represents a departure from Breguet's more traditional round cases, offering a contemporary yet classic aesthetic that appeals to collectors seeking unique forms. It integrates Breguet's signature design elements within a curvilinear profile, maintaining the brand's horological identity while exploring alternative case geometries.
The watch features a mechanical self-winding movement, often visible through a sapphire case back, showcasing Breguet's finishing techniques. The case is typically crafted from precious metals, such as rose gold, and measures approximately 37mm x 45mm, providing a comfortable fit on the wrist. Dials often incorporate engine-turned patterns and Breguet numerals, with blued steel Breguet hands for legibility. A power reserve of around 45 hours is common for movements in this series.
From a collector's standpoint, the Heritage 5410 stands out due to its tonneau case, which offers a unique silhouette compared to the more prevalent round Breguet models. Its blend of traditional craftsmanship with a less conventional form factor makes it a notable piece for those appreciating both historical horology and distinctive design. The model is often considered for its wearability and its ability to combine classic Breguet codes with a modern wrist presence.
Personal preference comes into play. I would pick the Vacheron, although I like the Tradition a lot. Aris
Best wishes Alkiro
It's all done with warm regards! The VC even if the wind is painful? It must be head-and-shoulder above for you to sacrifice my fingers!
You already know my selection but if the VC had not this specific guilloché dial, I think I would have select the 7787 with its enamel dial. Both so Breguet and so pocket watch style. Best wishes Alkiro
Best wishes!
