Cartier Calibre 38mm First Impressions

For a long time I wished to own a Cartier watch in my collection, but couldn´t find the exact model which could suit my personal gusto among the many charming models this brand offers. Last week I took a short holiday trip to Miami Beach and took advantage to visit a Cartier AD and try on my wrist two models I was interested in: The new Clé was a strong candidate, but I wanted a 40 mm example in steel case and leather straps which at present is not offered, but I feel it will so I know which will be my second Cartier. My option was the recently introduced version in 38 mm of the Calibre model. I liked that watch very much, but 42 mm is a very large watch for my gusto. This 38 mm looks and feels perfect on my wrist and I find it an adorable elegant watch, and it fills my gap in my collection: I finally own my first Cartier! I like the size, the subtle contrasts of polished and brushed areas of case and bezel, and the beautiful blued hands showing against the guiloche dial and Roman numerals. I would have preferred designers had kept the big XII numerals of the bigger brother, but I can understand that the smaller diameter of dial doesn´t allow it. I also prefer the smaller date window of this version against the the larger vertical window at the IWC style of the big Calibre. I thank so much the cumplimentary bottle of Cartier Reserve champagne which I received at the Boutique to celebrate the new purchase. I am pleased to share here some pictures taken during my trip.
