SJX reports on the grand launch of the Calibre de Cartier in Sydney, an event that brought together media, celebrities, and watch collectors. His post captures the atmosphere and highlights Cartier's commitment to high horology, showcasing both the new Calibre de Cartier and other high watchmaking pieces.
Cartier recently launched the Calibre de Cartier in Australia at Sydney's Woolloomooloo wharf. A wide range of guests were in attendance, including some Sydney watch collectors who lurk or post here. This was a major event that was reported widely as more than one person dropped me a line saying he had seen it in the papers.

A highlight of the event was a photo booth for guests to model the Calibre de Cartier and have their photo taken by famed photographer Adam Flipp.

A live band entertained guests who enjoyed canapes, specially made Cartier cocktails and Cartier champagne.

In addition to the Calibre de Cartier, some of the high watchmaking models from Cartier were also on show. Some the collectors present I managed to speak to after the event were impressed by the high watchmaking pieces, and some who were not already aware of Cartier's development in high horology were pleasantly surprised.

Kudos to Christopher Kilaniotis and his team for the excellent event.

Logistics must have been a bear but am sure that Cartier managed to pull it off with nary a hitch. The jewelled Caliber de Cartier is looking to be a fine alternative to the current offerings out in the market today. Thanks again for sharing and kudos to Cartier what seems to be another magnificent event!
Congrats to all that attended (and Cartier for hosting) - Love the Sydney watch events ;-) they always are that little more special. ;-) Please more pictures ;-)
When Cartier does a party, they do it well and an important new creation like the 'Calibre de Cartier' watches, deserve a presentation like this. Thanks for sharing these images SJX. GEO
I am one of those lurking members who was there that night, with thanks to SJX and Cartier. It was a great evening, everyone had a fabulous time, and there was a lot of interest shown in the watches. It was great to have the opportunity to meet and chat with Christopher, who is so clearly a watch lover!
A decent contingent of Sydney "Tarts" turned up to lend the evening some extra class. (Or not.) As well as myself, Peter and Nigel (photographed with the beautiful Kristy, who has just become the new manager at Cartier's Sydney boutique), there were several others - Aptronym has already put up her hand; Teng; Mike (I hope I got that right); another Tony who I hadn't previously met, but whose Rolex collection is apparently quite special; and one or two other well-known watch tragics mingling with
And I will keep you in the loop for future events in your area. - SJX
