SJX offers a rare glimpse into the world of ultra-luxury at Cartier, documenting the opulent selections made by a 'plutocrat.' This post showcases high jewelry pieces, including diamond and sapphire Panthère creations and a unique high jewelry watch, providing a window into the extraordinary craftsmanship and astronomical price points of Cartier's most exclusive offerings.
Most people buy houses. Eventually these become homes.
Other people who are more fortunate have palaces that can be seen from space. Such moneyed folk then buy jewellery and watches that cost as much as the houses of regular people.
One such plutocrat happened to mosey into Cartier today and he charitably allowed me to capture some of the items he was eyeing.
You know the old saying about not being able to afford it if you have to ask? Well I did. And the saying is absolutely true.
Below: Panthere ring and bracelet set with diamonds and sapphires

Some el cheapo smallish ring

Piece unique high jewellery watch with diamonds and sapphires; movement is quartz but available with mechanical JLC 101 micro-calibre as a special order

This is a bracelet but it could sit on a really small head as a uber-tiara

And this was the object intended for those with truly immodest means. The tax refund for this ring (about 6%) would amount to nearly $500,000.

usually it's diamonds and black onyx but these were diamonds and blue sapphires. From a distance they look like the usual black and white but up close you see the rich blue shade. - SJX
it's an accident waiting to happen. Great stuff though.
