Nicolas (amanico) presents a rare Cartier Tank Cintrée in platinum, slated for auction, highlighting its unique attributes and comparing it to another exquisite example owned by fellow collector Geo. This post sparks a discussion on the concept of 'piece unique' versus limited editions within Cartier's esteemed Tank Cintrée lineage.

I find this watch strangely attractive. I say strangely because red isn’t a colour I’d imagine on a dial that I’d wear. Thanks for posting.
Cartier did a great job with this model, super class on the wrist. Vte
that they are not unique pieces. On the back it reads no 1 and not 1/1. Mine was made in a run of 7 pieces, as a special order for a client. So I think this one is a special order too and probably made in a really small amount, like mine. Interesting is that there is no ruby in the crown, but a sapphire. Great post Nico! GEO
And, perhaps because of that, it is the most desirable. Both this one for auction and Geo's are gorgeous and the red numerals do not in any way detract. They probably enhance the beauty of this piece. Great post.
That he had made a custom piece at Cartier, so actually a piece unique and on the back it reads also just No 1, like this one and like mine. So to be a unique piece, it doesn’t need to have 1/1 on the back to be unique.
Do you like it amico?
