The IWC Big Pilot’s Watch IWC Racing Works, reference IW501019, is a limited edition within the brand's extensive Big Pilot's collection, designed to commemorate IWC's involvement in motorsport. This specific model integrates design cues and materials associated with high-performance racing, distinguishing it from standard production Big Pilot's references through its material composition and aesthetic.
This timepiece features a 46.2-millimetre case crafted from grade 5 titanium, a material chosen for its light weight and rigidity, commonly employed in motorsport engineering. It houses the IWC-manufactured 52110 calibre, an automatic movement equipped with a bi-directional Pellaton winding system, providing a seven-day power reserve. The blue dial is complemented by muted white numerals, with a date display at 6 o’clock and a power-reserve indication at 3 o’clock. The titanium case back is engraved with the IWC Racing Works logo.
As a limited edition of 500 pieces, the IW501019 holds particular interest for collectors focused on IWC's thematic releases and those appreciating the technical application of advanced materials. Its exclusive distribution through select flagship boutiques further positions it as a targeted acquisition for enthusiasts of both IWC and motorsport-inspired horology.
Thank you for the great coverage and Chopard for being part of this great community of classic cars and classic values and traditions. Good luck. Bill

... I love the engine-turned finish of the dial, it is like one of the classic MM Chopards with the ETA 2894. Marcus
After 1997, each year there are two tranches of watches. The Competitors edition is private for each team that races e.g. 440 teams in 2018. There is a public Race edition available that used to be limited to number of pieces according to the year e.g. 2001 pieces in 2001 A.D. Recently, the limits have been capped at 1000 pieces in steel & alloys and 100 pieces of rose gold variant. The competitors' edition may not have the same 'engines' as the public variants and the casebacks may be different
Imran, Some people from Eire, Pakistan and Middle East love green. Chinese and Russians love red. French seem to be blue. Little Hollanders scream orange. Americans can't decide red, white or blue and usually turn up in all three. The current Mrs MTF abhors green so I have no idea what you are on about! Regards, MTF
