Last night, my wife and I attended a dinner hosted by Karl-Friedrich Scheufele, President of Chopard, who graced Hong Kong for the important launch of a series of timepieces featuring the Chinese Dragon.

2024 is the Year of The Dragon according to the Chinese Zodiac. It is arguably the most popular and sought-after Zodiac because of the majestic image the Dragon projects.

Without further ado, let the pictures speak...

First on stage is a limited edition (of 8 pieces) featuring a grand feu enamel dial, with jumping hours...

Another one...

And a third....

Witnessing a master at work during the cocktail session

Somehow the very well-received L.U.C. 1860 Salmon dial introduced last year found its way into the show. I was told the waiting queue is around two-years but was offered the opportunity to acquire it on the spot. Should I make the plunge?

Another star of the evening - marvelous pieces featuring the twelve Zodiacs signs held in a specially designed box. The watches are created using a Japanese technique called Urushi lacquer... They cost a fraction of the enamel pieces but are no less beautiful... You can see the Horse and the Goat

Here is the Dragon version of the Urushi models. You can see the rabbit next to it.

And a cute Piggy...

Chopard also showcased a more subtle Jumping Hour version, also with enamel dial but limited to 88 pieces. Apologies for the horrible picture quality captured by my phone.

The watch the boss wore that evening - L.U.C. 1860 in yellow gold with flying tourbillon, limited to 10 pieces.

Haha - trying the dragon on my wrist smile

This was what I actually wore - L.U.C. 1860 in white gold with officer case.

Highlight of the evening was music presented by two young and talented artists performing lovely duets using the erhu (a Chinese instrument) and the cello

Finally, some food pictures. The dinner was held at Howard's Gourmet, a plush venue dedicated for hosting upscale parties. This is the starter...

Chicken with caviar

Lobster as main course.

Hope I have given you an idea what a grand evening it was.

Thank you for sharing. And buy that 1860 salmon dial. I almost did last month but went for its sibling instead

My concern about the Salmon dial is that it feels too light on my wrist, as I prefer more substantial weights
