Everyone who has ever visited a PuristSPro GTG will remeber the tables straining from the collective weight of watches placed upon them wink And no matter how well stocked a dealer, AD or Boutique may be, it is difficult to match the variety, diversity, the sheer horological breadth of what gets seen at a GTG. And while the friendships and the possibility of discussing watches with like minded people is what it's all about, we tend to post pictures of watches, and not necessarily fellow Purists (most of the time) smile

So after the long winded introduction, a watch I have long admired from afar - from pictures here and elsewhere - the FP Journe Chronometre Bleu. At the last GTG I have had the opportunity to actually sample it on the wrist.

And what a piece! FP Journe himself may perhaps not be known for the warm hospitality that we have experienced from all the independents we have visited but the product is truly spot on. It looks fabulous, feels fabulous. Not sure what the ownership experience is like - I have heard some 'stories' - but it's a difficult watch not to fall in love with.

The contrast between the blue dial and tantalum case is spot on and on a tan strap the watch gets a different character than on the more common blue variety. Looks more 'Italian cool' this way, at least to me wink

One often hears that meeting one's heroes tends to be anticlimatic. And the CB most certainly found itself in very august company at the GTG here. Still, I cannot say it was either anti-climatic, nor that it needed to hide in any way, shape or form.

In any case - a great experience - and I can only thank the friendly Purist owner who let me play with it and photograph it smile

And for those of you in doubt - if you can miss it every now and again (when it's in service) or don't intend it for your only watch - it is definitely worth seriously considering. Great piece, that!

So much so, that I am now trolling the net looking at some other pieces. I especially like the Havana models.

The latest version was the ROO Diver QE II Cup, in 2014, if memory serves correctly.
