blomman Mr Blue introduces the Girard-Perregaux 1966 Guilloché dial, a new reinterpretation of the iconic 1966 watch for Baselworld 2015. He highlights the aesthetic and mechanical refinements, focusing on the intricate guilloché dial and the availability of both men's and ladies' versions.
Girard-Perregaux unveils a new reinterpretation of its iconic Girard-Perregaux 1966 watch, with an 18K pink gold case featuring an exclusive guilloché dial. This mechanical watchmaking and aesthetic wonder is offered in both a men’s and ladies’ version.

Combining the discreet, timeless elegance of great classic watches, the Girard-Perregaux 1966 collection is now enhanced by the addition of two new models with dials featuring delicate guilloché work, which gives this timepiece a perfectly-matched face and mechanism in the finest watchmaking tradition built up by our Manufacture over the last two centuries.
Available in two matching men’s and ladies’ versions, the delicately rounded dial is adorned with a superb guilloché pattern. The most prestigious of traditional watch decorations, the twelve sectors of the concentric pattern radiate from the centre of the dial to create a delicate arabesque with silvered opaline reflections. The hours are marked by baton-shaped indexes, passed over by the collection’s characteristic leaf-shaped hands.
The pink gold case with its understated lines, designed and produced in the Manufacture’s own workshops, is a model of harmony and has had an enormous amount of attention lavished upon it. Its delicately inclined bezel is polished and then diamond-polished to emphasise its elegance, and the ladies’ version is lit up by some 60 diamonds. The sapphire crystal case-back reveals the exquisite mechanical heart of these two models, perfectly suited to each case and featuring remarkable finishes.

The ultra-thin GP03300 self-winding movement with its 111/2’’’ diameter drives the 38mm model. Created in the Manufacture’s workshops, the GP03300 caliber showcases Girard-Perregaux’ long tradition of Haute Horlogerie and is a guarantee of the utmost reliability and accuracy. The mainplate and bridges are drawn, beveled, circular-grained and decorated with Côtes de Genève motifs. Containing 205 parts, it has a 46-hour power reserve with a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. As for the 30mm ladies’ model, it is powered by the
GP03200 movement that is also self-winding - the classic Girard-Perregaux caliber GP03200, that sophisticated movement with its 10 ½ ’’’ diameter, a thickness of 3.20mm and a total of 185 component parts that houses an 18K pink gold oscillating weight engraved with an elegant «tapestry» of Girard-Perregaux logos.
Girard-Perregaux shows once again the timeless Haute Horlogerie character of the 1966 Collection and its capacity to constantly reinvent its long tradition with these two models, worn on an elegant black alligator strap with a pink gold pin buckle.

A nice work on the dial, spoiled by the date, which is too centered, therefore. The dial is superb on the jewelled version. But I prefer the non jewelled case. Best, Nicolas
But here, I can't argue with you about the date.... But look at the rest of the dial - MAGIC! :) Will post some thoughts and more live shots of these two soon. Best Blomman
95 % of the market want a date... Which I more and more doubt about... Best, Nicolas
Than one or two watches are more concerned about the esthetic and design of a watch than people with only one or two watches... For most people it is more important having the date functions than the keeping the dial intact. But I do agree, this one would be even better without date! Best Blomman
While reading your post, my wife saw the pictures. Her immediate reaction was: "beautiful, I want it". What's the thickness of the ladies model? I think I perhaps found the next Xmas present. Best, Kari
the change of the seconds hand to gold takes some charme away. I love the blued seconds hand. I probably would have kept the Guilloche exclusive to the Ladies model.
