Flamenco provides an exclusive look at Girard Perregaux's 2013 Baselworld novelties, showcased in Beijing. This event highlights GP's strategic focus on the Greater China market and offers a rare glimpse into the brand's cutting-edge horological advancements, including the Constant Escapement L.M. and various high complications. Flamenco's detailed photo report captures the essence of these significant releases.
The 48mm laboratory for the new GP Constant Force escapement. A showcase of advance engineering & material science applied in horology. A technological tour de force ! Despite its 48mm dimensions, the watch does not feel big perhaps due to its well laid out design and well spaced dial / movement layout. Although I would have preferred a slightly thinner bezel, which would have improved spatial arrangement of the skeletonized movement. The dial face in white contrasts the rest of the watch an
The new 1966 Chronograph with the all new caliber GP03800 manual wind with an intregrated Column Wheel Chronograph housed in a 40 mm x 11.25 mm rose gold case. A piece that I was very eager to see in the metal, and I was not disappointed. Admittedly, I was quick to judge when the first photos, but really like it seeing it the metal. The hour makers (being raised) really jumps out at you and the chrono counters, the inner and outer dial laid in layers makes the 40mm larger than it really it. Over
Recall AndrewD once referred to this as Horological Ballet .... Very Aptly so, and what a pleasure to view this is person. A huge, heavy watch, with a good reason. It houses a rotating Bi-Axial Tourbillion. A beautiful ballerina lives in the heart of this watch. And a short video to prove it :D
With time passing, I am less and less fan of this horological sophistication. But there are still some which make me dream: This Bi Axis, or any other Tourbillon from GP with one, two or three bridges, is among them, with the JLC Gyro One, the Reverso Tourbillon Skeleton, and the UN Freak Diavolo. What a feast for the eyes! Thanks for trhe report, Flamenco. Nicolas
Not sure that I fully understand the principle and the interest of this watch. But the finish, the decoration of the movement is gorgeous. I wonder if I don't prefer the backside to the dial side. Yes, I really need to see it in the flesh! Best, Nicolas
The base of this new Chronograph is excellent, but I would love to see the following points re tought: - The case back: Look at what Patek did with the 5070, the movement is not bigger than the GP, or, if it is, it is not in big proportions. Patek managed to design a case back which avoid the movement to be lost in this 42 mm case ( the 5070 is 42 mm, not the new GP Chrono, to be clear ). - No date, please. - White metal case. This Chronograph and its movement are some great news. Best, Nicolas
