Blomman Mr Blue presents a vintage 1950s Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic with a distinctive faceted bezel, celebrating its magnificent dark chocolate patina. His post highlights the aesthetic details of this charming vintage piece, which was originally designed as part of a 'His and Hers' matching pair, and invites appreciation for its unique vintage character.
Friends,
Today I like to share two shots of a 1950’s Girard-Perregaux Gyromatic with faceted bezel.
The dial has turned into a magnificent dark chocolate patina!
This was once Girard-Perregaux way of making a matching pairs of His and Hers watches.
If we zoom in you can really see the different facets:
The facets in combination with the deep dark chocolate patina make this a delicious piece!
Now if only the hands would have the creamy patina as well...
Ah, vintage GP offers some really sweet caramels!
Thank you to the owner for letting me play with this one.
Best
Blomman

I will need to get it serviced, esp. the case needs some cleaning and light polishing. The hands have lost their lume indeed, but I may get them re-lumed. You have the brochure? And you didn't share that with me ??? :) BTW: here is another example with lumed hands as they should be. photo credit to the WWW. CC
There are some really interesting case/bezel versions from the early Gyromatic line! :) Best Blomman
Lucky owner - a sweet caramel perfect for the summer! :) Best Blomman
Still have a big stack of un-scanned documents to work on... Something to do on dark winter nights, eh? :) Yes, please give this one some attention and share it afterwards! Such a sweet caramel! :) Best Blomman
could it be that your watchmaker has been in contact with mine? He is not quite yet at a 2 year turn-around cycle, but slowly getting there....ah, I hate to wait and waiting line-up is growing!
so I just doubled your chances ;) Hmm, two times zero....
