Blomman Mr Blue unearths a fascinating vintage document from the late 1950s, showcasing Girard-Perregaux's "His and Hers" watch concept. This post highlights how GP creatively differentiated matching timepieces, with the men's model featuring bezel facets and the women's model incorporating facets into the crystal. It offers a unique glimpse into mid-century watch fashion and design philosophy.
I found another old document…
It is from the late 1950’s and already at that point it was fashionable to have “His and Her watch”!
Fun to see here is how GP connected his and hers with the facet shape. On his the facets are located on the bezel, on hers in the crystal!
His: G-30, reference 6839.

Inside is the caliber 47, 17 jewels. Notice the declaration in the document?
“Each Model 17 Jewels”, I guess this was stated due to the different import taxes at that point depending on number of jewels in the movement.
Hers: faceted crystal.
Another detail: “*Gyromatic – Reg. U.S. Pat. Off.”.
The Gyromatic was patented in 1957.
