KMII shares his compelling first impressions of the Girard Perregaux Neo Bridges, a watch that has unexpectedly vied for the top spot on his 2018 wishlist. His hands-on experience reveals how its titanium construction and lug design make the 45mm timepiece surprisingly light and comfortable, even on slender wrists, challenging initial perceptions about its size.

I recently found myself in town with some minutes to spare - a rare event these days. And a chance look at a shop window decided how these would be spent - I spotted the Girard Perregaux Neo Bridges smile

Seeing it up close and putting it on my wrist... Well what can I say - even better than pictures wink

It’s quite large but the lug design and the feather weight (courtesy of titanium as both case and buckle material) conspire to make you forget that - it will work on slender wrists, too.

And when I say feather weight, I mean it - it seems / feels a lot lighter than my 40mm titanium Aerospace on a leather strap.

The watch is reasonably slim as well - easily slipping under the cuff.

While these are all great to have hygiene factors, it’s the dial - or lack thereof, which is the real party piece. I find it to be one of the most convincing skeleton watches, certainly at this price point. Unashamedly modern, too - which in my eyes is a feature!

In spite of GP not being widely recognised by non-watch lovers, stealth is certainly not something the Neo Bridges can be accused of - in spite of the radar absorbent appearance wink The design is simply so outlandish as to draw looks to itself, from watch enthusiasts and random passers by alike.

But for this watch I’d easily accept the trade-off smile

Now unless Santa’s delivering on Sundays, I guess no new entries to my collection are feasible in 2017. But definitely one to seriously vie for the top spot of my wish list in 2018!

Hope your wishes come true The Neo Bridges looks like it could definitely come from an independent - certainly a proper watch maker’s watch IMHO! Not saying that established manufactures don’t make those, just that they are often more circumspect, or conservative.

This one is a must to see in real to really appreciate, IMO. From photos it may come off as a bit too far out there.... But on the wrist its really something special. Almost like a second skin, but a super cool second skin! Best Blomman

And really sublime on the wrist, as you say, Blomman! I tried the 1966 in WG and the grand feu enamel dial at the same time, and even though it was nice, it simply did not draw me in the same way... Maybe not a daily wear, the Neo Bridges, but what a watch!
