Blomman Mr Blue unveils the Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk Beige, reference 49960, a 2015 novelty that blends the brand's ultra-modern diver aesthetic with a vintage-inspired color palette. This exclusive first look, granted by GP, highlights how the subtle shift to beige transforms the watch, offering a softer, more elegant appeal while retaining its robust technical specifications.
Friends,
The novelties from Girard-Perregaux for this year are not yet over! As one of the first to give you the news – even before the official press release: Girard-Perregaux Sea Hawk Beige, reference 49960!
GP gave me the green light to post this watch now, so here goes….
Normally when you hear someone say beige, you may not get very excited…
But this time you might… At least I am!
The Sea Hawk Beige is still the same ultra-modern diver with strong almost brutal force. But with this version Girard-Perregaux took a step towards the Vintage look and feel…
By mixing the colors we are used to and tweaking them GP transformed this watch into something that I think might be my favorite version. But let’s not jump ahead…
Let’s have a closer look at the watch.
Technically speaking, this version is not different from the others.
Steel case: 44 mm in diameter, 17.10 mm thick. Water resistant down to 1000 meters / 100 ATM. Inside is the GP03300-0074 automatic movement with a power reserve of 46 hours.
The dial layout is the same with hour, minute, sub-second, date and power reserve indicator.
On the back, the classic porpoise snake, anchor and trident.
What differentiates this version from the others is the look and feel.
The most eye catching is of course the beige luminous parts! Big and bold as always, but this time with a patina like beige color…
I really like it!
Makes me think of big Tritium markers that have turned into a creamy tone. Even the pearl on the bezel have this color.
Next is the bezel. Instead of a black bezel Girard-Perregaux opted for a grey brushed bezel pronouncing the first quarter with black lines…
Again I get a Vintage feel…. Like a black bezel the faded into a steel grey crown on top of the watch.
And to complete the Vintage look a beige alligator strap with rubber on the inside to protect the strap from sweat and water. This is new for this model! Earlier GP never offered alligator strap on the Sea Hawk.
I like that they choose the leather before the rubber or steel bracelet. The alligator makes the watch look a bit more elegant.
Yes, all this makes me think of Vintage dive watches!
BUT, then we have the modern side of the Sea Hawk. The big almost aggressive angled case, the big brushed metal surfaces… The rubber coated crown…
But what really made me see the modern and more technical part of the Sea Hawk is the dial pattern… Don’t know why but the honey cake web gives me a more technical feel…
Normally the dial is single colored and the pattern is only visible in certain angels or light. This time the “web” is black while the bottom of each “hole” is grey. On a distance this may look like a faded dial, but up close the modern side clearly shows!
On the wrist, the Sea Hawk is big, bold and powerful…
But the warmer tone is there!
You who follow us here in the forum know I am torn about which version I like the best… Blue? White? The Mermaid….?
And now this sweet nougat…
Man, I am in trouble!
Which version is your favorite?
Big thank you to the Girard-Perregaux team for letting me share this with you now!
Best
Blomman

Introduced as part of the Hawk collection, this model emphasizes a contemporary, sporty aesthetic. The 2013 ceramic iteration, presented at Baselworld, features a black zirconium oxide case, offering exceptional scratch resistance. This material choice enhances the watch's durability and provides a stealthy, modern appearance.
The 44mm ceramic case is constructed with an inner titanium core, contributing to a lighter overall weight while maintaining structural integrity. The watch is powered by an automatic movement, ensuring reliable timekeeping. Its design includes prominent crown protection and a unidirectional rotating bezel, typical features for a professional dive instrument.
For collectors, the ceramic Sea Hawk represents Girard-Perregaux's commitment to material innovation within its sports watch segment. It stands as an example of the brand's ability to adapt classic designs with advanced manufacturing techniques, appealing to enthusiasts seeking a high-performance timepiece with a distinct visual presence and enhanced wearability.
I have to see it in the real, to have a definitive feeling. With such a patina, I would maybe have preferred a smooth dial. I really have to see it in the flesh. So, the Blue remains my favorite, for the time being. Best, Nicolas
Love the grey bezel and the beige lume combo, really a killer, the best of all Sea Hawks right now for me. I would also like a rubber strap with it but the tan is also superb. PuristsPro rocks, we now go ahead of official releases ;) CC
But waiting for a titanium case or a case made in more advanced light weight materials S
blomman My gut reaction for favourite is the Blue version but now I'm liking the Beige and tan strap combination because its Different from the usual. Dare I say that it is Beyond the Pale? Of course, very few people could pull off wearing the following colour......... :-) MTF
To complete the "Vintage feeling" Gp should have opted for a smooth dial... But to keep the modern technical look - the honey cake dial do the trick! :) Best, my friend Blomman
The alligator strap is water resistant. Same as used on the Traveller. I must say that I like the alligator a lot on the Sea Hawk, makes it a bit "softer" and more elegant. Of course PuristSPro rocks! ;) Best, my friend Blomman
