Watches with different time zones are not a recent love story, for Girard Perregaux.

I have been aware, through the press release document, that Jean François BAUTTE made Pocket watchs with different time zones as soon as... 1830!

The first time zone Pocket Watch:

In the early 2000's, GP launched the WW TC, which was one of the first Watch to associate a Chronograph to a World Time, as far as I remember.

The WW TC:

In its early version:

In its latest version, with the superb John Harrison Dial:

A WW TC which had a 12 years life, before being replaced by the Traveller, in 2013.

Compared to the former WW TC, the Traveller presents the following différences:

- A one mm bigger case, which is 44 mm, now.

- The second crown at 9 o'clock, which was used to set the world time, is now absent ( you set the world time by the nuique crown, at 3 o'clock ).

- The shape of the lugs, at tge opposite of the crown and pushers side, which are coming over the case- or breaking the round case-when, on the crown and pushers side, they " hug " the crownprotectors, creating a certain asymmetry.

- The crownprotectors, which didn't exist on the WW TC, before.

- The dial, which represents the Earth latitudes and longitudes.

The movement is the same, the Cal GP 3300, automatic, beating at the pace of 28 800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of 46 hours. The rotor in nicely decorated and shaped.

That being said, this year, Girard Perregaux introduces the rose gold version, while it was first unveiled, last year, in titanium, and steel, with two different dials, opaline or black.

The stainless steel version:

The Titanium version:

The new rose gold version.

Opaline dial:

Black dial:

What do you think about the Traveller WW TC in general?

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Nicolas

I really like the complication, I really like the case and its lugs and I really like the hands. I do not like at all, the date which detracts from an otherwise very nice and thoughtful dial and I cannot see myself wearing a 44mm watch. So, for me very nice to look at (beside the date) but not to wear. Thank you for the article and the pictures Nicolas. Cheers Francois from Down Under

Thx Nicolas for this report with the various new Traveller models, in particular for finding that old pocket watch. I believe GP dropped the cumbersome naming, which is a good change. Overall, I still in favour of the previous models, but that's just my personal taste. The removal of the second crown at 9 o'clock I think is a good change, as I always feel this crown and it is uncomfortable wearing. The crown guards and the case modifications I'm not so sure about. I overall feel that the propo

But I agree even more with you on the date... :) Best, Nicolas

To be honest, I much prefer the former WW TC, except for one detail that I find to be really interesting and great, the lack of the crown. Best, and thanks for your feedback, CC. Nicolas

I must say that I prefer the new Traveller without the crown at 9 o'clock. 44 mm is big, but as you can see in this photo of the steel version, it is not too big. The dial is beautiful and even if crowded, it doesn't feel like too much. If something should be removed, I guess my vote would be to remove the date window. And in PG... It is luminous! :) Again, thank you for this report! Best Blomman

Still have to get familiar with the lugs on the left side, though... Best, my friend, and thanks for reading. Nicolas
