Jrwong23 (aka watchthebin) shares his excitement for the Grand Seiko SBGW253, a modern tribute to the brand's inaugural 1960 model. His post highlights the watch's aesthetic appeal and the community's role in his acquisition, offering a personal look at a highly anticipated release from Baselworld 2017.

i have said for years now that I want my first Grand Seiko. Somehow I couldn't find one that I ticked all the boxes for me and as I collected more timepieces, it became harder to get a GS as the ones I like are simple time only but I have quite a few time only watches already

Finally at basel 2017, Seiko relaunched the original GS, the very first GS launched in 1960. This watch is a beauty and I read many comments about it here and Luis our Asian vlad of course did the Vlad to me....

And our dear bro RichardN was the chief enabler to help me get this. Thanks Richard!

So here is it. 2 wristshots I took yesterday during evening drinks after work. smile

I will definitely share more shots soon. The superbly polished case, the domed dial and crystal, the nicely finished hands and batons are to die for !

Cheers
Robin

And thank you for the important and well taken photos! I say important because I have been thinking about this watch since seeing it at Basel and there is one 'semi reserved' for me in Kuala Lumpur. It was important to see the watch on a smaller wrist to get a better idea of its fit. Very elegant and classy Robin
