MTF's 2008 report on the Habring² dinner in Singapore provides a unique historical snapshot of the independent watchmaker's early days and its partnership with Sincere Watch. This article offers valuable context on the complementary roles of Maria-Kristina and Richard Habring, alongside insights into the broader luxury watch retail landscape in Asia. It remains a significant resource for understanding the brand's foundational relationships and market presence.

No - I'm not trying to use all the letters of the alphabet in the title  smile  but those were the hosts of a dinner in Singapore when the Habrings visited Asia. The dinner was at the private dining room of BLU restaurant in the Shangri La Hotel.

Habring2 is an equal partnership of 2 complementary "components" in it's clockworks:

The formidable Founder, Chief Financial Officer, Business Development, Sales & Marketing Director: Maria-Kristina Habring
  1. The other half is Chief Watchmaker: Richard Habring

Some say there is a 3rd partner in the enterprise - the family dog.......  smile

Our PuristS' archivist, Herr Prof Marcus Hanke has already documented their company beginnings (appropriately in 2 parts)  click here

Sincere Watch is a public-listed watch retailer in Singapore that became the subject of a succesful takeover bid by Hong Kong-based Peace Mark Holdings Limited - a timepiece manufacturer, distributor and retailer. With the acquisition, the whole portfolio of the Group will consist of over 70 luxury brands, about 130 luxury stores and 958 points of sales.

Christian Zörweg, President of Buben & Zörweg - Purveyors of watch winders and clocks, was also at hand to present their Ellipse Grand Revers Deluxe Double Tourbillon (Limited Edition - 25 pieces). We also got to see a Patheon Grande Reserve Classique and Pythagoras World Time Tourbillon (Sold Out 2006 Edition).

The current Mrs MTF really likes these Austrian watch winders; I have to use her rejected US-made winders......sigh  smile

Richard and Maria-Kristina Habring

They met in a subway waiting for a train; their eyes locked and that was that.........

How absolutely random is that for usually one expects an orderly, methodical watchmaker?

Conclusion:

A convivial and educational time was had by all. Thanks to the Habrings, Herr Zörweg and Sincere Watch.

Others with more technical background may like to wade in about the merits of a Habring Double Tourbillon. All I know is that he said a miniaturised version of the clockworks could be made into a watch.........

Richard Habring worked on many complicated designs during his time with IWC (Da Vinci etc) and Lange & Sohne so his repertoire is wide. For Habring 2 , he has produced everything from handwind Time Only, Jumping Seconds (deadbeat seconds), Sports Automatic, Chronograph and Tourbillon watches. Some series (have been discontinued and new ones are in production. One early novelty was the "upgradeable" watch where an owner could start with the handwind time only watch and by adding new modules stage
