Mike H's hands-on review of the Hentschel H1 Chronometer offers a rare, extended look at this independent German watchmaker's work. His detailed impressions, formed over several weeks with the watch, provide invaluable insights into its design philosophy and craftsmanship. This article synthesizes community reactions, highlighting why the H1 Chronometer continues to captivate collectors years after its initial discussion.
Last time I met Andreas Hentschel he was kind enough to lend me his H1 Chronometer for quite some weeks for testing.
IMO this chronometer is a very classy and classic watch bridging tradition and modernity.
Surely an elegant wristwatch, this H1 Chronometer is a beautiful daily wearer with great wearing comfort. It is actually everything but a « show watch », quite discrete and understated because of its well proportioned flat 39,5mm case and silver dial. However, the more you look into details, the more you discover that it is in fact a very well finished watch having its distinctive look…
The silver slightly « grained » dial is simple and elegant at the same time…

enabling the blued tapered leaf hands to show their delicate beauty…

One: I have never seen a poor picture of a Hentschel. Not one. I have yet to see one in the metal but because of what I just said my expectations are reasonable high. Two: This is your second post about a borrowed watch I’ve seen today. You must have either very good friends or strong powers of persuasion !
both the dial + the movement are very classically designed & understated !! thanks for sharing. one pic from me... Best, mahesh.,
This watch is under the radar Cool 😎
Seems to be beautifully finished and well balanced design! Sam
