KIH, a long-time Depeche Mode fan and Hublot forum moderator, presents the Hublot Big Bang Aero Depeche Mode Edition. This post celebrates the unexpected collaboration between his favorite band and the brand, offering a personal perspective on a unique limited edition timepiece.

... well, I don't know how many of you actually know DM but I, for one, have been listening to them since more than 30 years ago, around the time their first album came out.  I was in high school and they were, I think, early 20s.  Vince Clark had already left the group - and formed Yazoo with Alison, and then on to Erasure....  I am a die-hard 80s/90s British electro pop fan including but not limited to DM, New Order, etc....  DM was back then categorized as "Metal Percussion".  Ah, my young days....

Anyway, I bet most of you have no idea what I was talking about above, and when Hublot came out with DM edition, I was like "OMG, OMG!".  My long long love group Depeche Mode and the brand whose forum I happened to moderate....  Wow.  What an honor.....  I hope someone at Hublot forward this to DM members (please? smile).

Before you get bored with my non-sense mumbling, let me present you "Big Bang Aero Depeche Mode Edition"!  Please excuse too many photos!

Very DM (jacket of the latest album) bezel.  Unique for Hublot, too.
Not rubber, but black ceramic.

There must be those who hate this design and those who love this design.  That's okay.  I am just a DM fan and I love this just because of it.  YMMV.

Even the strap has them.

Of course, current Depeche Mode log is "DM" made with triangles.
"Charity Water".

A bit strange, but looks cool.

Bottom line - even those who have no idea who or what Depeche Mode is have placed orders of this model: they just LOVE the unique design.  Sadly, the number of the pieces that come to Japan is very small - of course, majority will be sold in Europe....  Damn!  The Boutique Staff even suggested to get this strap for my other Hublot....   Maybe a good idea.....

As always, thank you so much, Hublot Boutique Ginza staff!

Best,
Ken

as 80's & 90's is my era too....and still the best..! Very weird, but nice, Hublot..! Is the only mention on the watch the DM on the back, and is that just a sticker..? Some interesting uses of ceramic these days :) Thanks, Andy.

... since early 90s. Not sure if the back side DM mark is on the sticker or on the glass, though. Weird... No argument here - like I said, YMMV. I just LOVE the fact that Hublot came out with DM model! I am listening to "DM Single Boxes" as I type it. Right now it is playing "Strip"..... Tomorrow, I will probably listen to New Order.... :-) Ken

DM and all those bands you've mentioned. Britain had so many nice bands. As for Hublot, its the 2nd time they do a DM edition. We are in deep trouble here. They have already a zillion of LE's, if they are going to double it now, hehehe... what to say :) Though this model is quite Rock n roll. tnx for the post

But never liked DM. Absolutely loved the offshoot Yazoo and their album Upstair's at Erics with the great Alison Moyet singing "midnight...it's rain outside yeah". Eclectic watch that I might well have liked 27 years ago back at school in the UK. But now I am middle aged and a tad larger around the waist.... nah.

Some getting used too! Undecided, although I am a huge DM fan! Thanks for the photos!
