I encountered Hublot Classic Fusion AeroFusion Chronograph Black Magic and spent some time with it to find it pretty attractive, inside out.
As reported here by foversta: ( hublot.watchprosite.com ), this model was launched at Geneva fair 2013 and got my attention immediately.

Black Magic version is new - all black ceramic.

What I am impressed with is its dial - symmetric design.

The case has polished part and hair line part - both black ceramic and that is impressive, too.

Date window is at 6h and no issue here as to the legibility.

The movement is HUB1155 - based on ETA2894.  Modular type chronograph movement, but didn't see the usual "jump" of the minute hand or chrono second hand when the start/stop button was pressed.  Very well made.

With Black surrounding which successfully makes the symmetry dial design stand out, this one is very cool.  Applied index works really well.  Subdials' legibility is really near zero, but doesn't matter much in this case.

Although 45mm, this really doesn't wear big and very comfy to wear.

Very nice....

I have no complaint about this one smile

Special side-by-side shot with Unico Ferrari (surely, Unico is Column Wheel chrono movement which is more sturdy, and this Aerofusion doesn't....).

I think this one has the best of both world - meaning, the low-key Classic Fusion and good looks of Aero version.  I like this a lot!

As always, thank you Hublot Boutique Ginza!

Best,
Ken

I think the watch line represents a logical progression for Hublot. A new piece with very recognizable Hublot DNA. I have not yet seen one up close, but am most interested to see the case. I imagine the watch has a more solid feel than a typical Big Bang or King Power, which has a modular feel for me.

.. I tend to get frustrated and irritated by the "modular" feel of chrono, but during my time with this at the boutique, I didn't feel or see that. Comparing with Unico may make you realize the difference, but I believe this one is made well for a modular type chrono. Let me know what you find out when you encounter this model. Thanks! Ken

And not the movement specifically. "Modular" with the Big Bangs and King Powers - for me, the case design with the kevlar covered sidewalls and exposed strips of case metal at top and bottom. Of course, part of the design mantra is to make it appear the strap "passes through the case". But I prefer an all metal sidewall, and hence why I feel the Classic Fusion will have a more solid feel.

to the newest big bang unico all black aero model? I know to the trained eye the differences but too close for me. It would be good to see a pic of the two together, the matt may help hide the similarities better. Nice report and thanks for the pics. Cheers Steve

... I don't have the side-by-side pic of both models but let's see the comparison here (note that Hublot Big Bang Unico is not All Black as you referred to, but I believe the dial design is the same). Side-by-side with Big Bang Ferrari which has the same movement and quite similar dial as Big Bang Unico All Black. May look similar, but notice: 1. Classic AeroFision has rather symmetrical dial with open work. Date disc is vertical from the center of the dial because the window is at 6h. 2. Unico

enthusiast and owner I've begun to lose the passion due to the repetition of the same format. However the innovation and new unico movement might temp me to buy another version of the new bigger bang when I see a model I like. Has not happened yet, but with all the combinations; there's bound to be one. Cheers Steve
