Amanico unveils a rare and historically significant Jaeger-LeCoultre rectangular perpetual calendar from circa 1938, a piece previously known only through rumor. This post highlights the watch's in-house Caliber 410 QP movement, a combination of the Reverso caliber with a perpetual calendar, and prompts discussion on its unique status and why such an innovation wasn't mass-produced. The article provides a fascinating look into JLC's early complications.

Yes, Circa 1938...

How many Perpetual Calendars were issued, at that time, with an in house ( Cal 410 QP: The Reverso Calibre + a Perpetual Calendar. ) movement, in a wrist watch?

Of course, this is not the first perpetual calendar from Lecoultre, since we know at least one, a famous one, the Grande Complication from 1928. We also know that at the end of the XIXth century, Lecoultre made some, but these perpetual calendars came in pocket watches.

We heard about the existence of this watch, we knew that circa 1937 / 1938, it was made.

But we never saw it.

It is time to unveil it, thanks to QP Salon.

And the certificate from the Manufacture.

There is a detail which can be noticed. This is one of the rare Jaeger Lecoultre watches to not have the JLC signature on the dial.

Happy to spread the news!

Best,

Nicolas

...is what makes me wonder why so many modern movements are so large. Though I also have to wonder how days and dates are corrected?

But I don't complain about the size of the movement, as long as it is coherent with the size of the case. And I quite like big and nicely decorated movements! Best, Nicolas

it reminds me of another watch (another brand) from the 90ies. Can you guess which one?

... concept with the qp-module on the dialside. If so, why was it unique and has not been utilised for series-production? Best Christian
