Amanico's insightful review of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre à Chronographe in white gold with a black dial sparks a crucial discussion among collectors. He challenges the notion of perfection, prompting a community-wide reflection on how this iconic reference, now 15 years old, could evolve. His detailed suggestions for movement enhancements, dial refinements, case redesign, and strap improvements offer a compelling vision for the future of this horological masterpiece.

When I see this one...

... I wonder what could be improved.

The movement? Certainly not! Unless Jaeger Lecoultre decides to go deeper in the finishings.

The dial? In black, it is so cool. It is a very risky challenge to change it. This design is iconic. I would maybe remove the chronograph minutes reminder located in the chronograph sub dial.

Another expression of the Chronograph? THAT would be awesome. Two ways: A Rattrapante, of course, is something we asked for such a long time. Or a Chronograph with a dead second? Or both?

The case? I really love this one, but I wouldn't mind a revisited case. 40 to 42 mm, but thinner, maybe one or two millimeters thinner. This Duomètre à Chronographe was issued in 2007. This case is 15 years old. It would make sense to go for something a bit different, in order to enhance or highlight the elegance of this model.

Aaah, since as e are at it, please, Jaeger Lecoultre, a decent strap, and the choice between a nice pin buckle and a folding one.

What are your thoughts on how the Duometre should progress?

Best,

Nicolas

And it is a possibility since they already made some in… 40.5mm? Additional thinness would be highly welcomed too. The dial, maybe swap the timekeeping and chrono function like the QL, however I’m still not tired of this dial even after all these years! It is hard to improve on classics like this.

1) a reduced size to the 40.5 of the Quantieme Lunaire 2) more dial colors and a move back to white metals that are no longer in production 3) reduced thickness 4) it won't happen but I like to dream: a model in grey ceramic

Yes,a slightly smaller case diameter would be welcome but only if,at the same time, the case thickness could also be reduced : I personally like the current case proportions. Agree about the choice of a pin buckle vs. folding clasp : I ordered a PT pin buckle from JLC as I did not like the wearing comfort with the folding clasp. The current offering is however not very tempting : only colored gold with the open dial design. If I could advise JLC than it would be for a white gold, closed dial with

Rattrapante would be irresistible

New strap choices and maybe little shorter lugs would be cool

I have been looking at the standard platinum duometre as an addition but the size holds me back. I already have a big chrono (cal 16.29), which I bought because of the sheer beauty as the watch size is upper limit for me. 40 mm x 11 mm would be perfect (maybe 12 given the extra components vs other chronograph).
