Amanico shares his enduring affection for the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duometre à Chronographe, highlighting its understated elegance and groundbreaking movement. His post delves into the platinum version with a white dial, comparing it to the grey dial variant and reflecting on its unique position within the Duometre collection. This piece remains a significant horological offering from JLC, celebrated for its innovative design and technical prowess.
Here we are of course speaking about the platinum version, as the white gold has a black dial, only.
A Watch I deeply miss for its understated elegance, its grained dial, and, as for every Duometre, its movement.
The A Chronographe has an advantage on any other Duometres: It was the first one, which means a new case, a new movement, a new concept.
There are more friendly ( UTT ) more intellectual ( Quantieme Lunaire ), more sophisticated ( A Spherotourbillon ) or more prestigious ( Hybris Mechanica à Grande Sonnerie ), but the A Chronographe is certainly one of the most appealing.
I long hesitated between the white dial, or the grey, this last one was made in platinum!
I chose the white dial, for its cooler elegance. While the grey is a bit " sadder ", maybe.
I could speak hours and hours about this Watch.
Hope that one day, I will show you my own one!
In the mean time, some pictures of the white dial:
To be compared to the Grey dial:
Certainly one of the most interesting horological offer from JLC.
Best,
Nicolas
IMO The texture of the dial really makes it interesting -MW
the watch just looks magnificent with the grey stripe of the sweater Yes, the white dial over the grey in my opinion. The white is just shockingly beautiful with the hands colors. I was comparing the white look to my geophysic. It's amazing how the hand differences create a whole new look, and even though the white dials appear similar, you get a total different feel with the chrono hands. Money being no object, I could see this platinum and the WG black as a great duo. Best Joe
Crossed my mind more than once. Now that don't own it, I have to make a choice. And the good thing is that I can't go wrong with each of them. Best, Joe, and thanks for your answer. Nicolas.
the whiter one was the Boutique edition if I remember well. Thanks for the refresh :) Cheers, Mark
But mine was on a no boutique edition, which was quite unique... Damn theives! Best, Nicolas
but I understand the Duometre journey will maybe open a new chapter!
