Those who know me also know my story with the Duometre.

To make it short, I first had it in platinum with an uncommon white dial ( circa 50 were made in this dial configuration ) in October 2008. Then it was stolen to me in January 2011 and it took me almost 6 years to replace it in December 2016, with this very powerful and eye-catching version, the white gold case / black dial, which was issued at the 2010 SIHH.

It was love at first sight when I discovered this new version in 2010, at the point that I even considered owning both the platinum and this one, something I almost never do.

So it was a logical and psychological choice to replace my stolen platinum by this one.

There are watches you get tired of with time passing. And there are others which you love more and more... This one belongs to the last category. I would even say that it would be the only modern Jaeger Lecoultre I would keep in my collection.

And when I compare other modern manual winding ( no split seconds ) chronographs, I only see two contenders which can be taken seriously: The Lange Datograph, and the Montblanc Minerva Cal 13.21 or 16.29. Here is the stunning movement of the Duometre:

With time passing, I am surprised to see that it is not considered as an icon, while it should be, for its aesthetics and its originality. Jaeger Lecoultre should have defended it more, and better, in my opinion. And when I see the current iterations of the Duometre, I am loving mine more and more...

I’ve almost pulled the trigger a dozen times now. I just worry about the servicing costs when my kids (and their kids) get my collection.
