Davudvl's inquiry into a Jaeger-LeCoultre Geomatic sparks a crucial discussion for collectors navigating the vintage market. His detailed observations about the dial's lack of lume and an unsigned crown highlight common authenticity concerns. This thread underscores the importance of scrutinizing subtle details and leveraging community expertise when evaluating vintage timepieces.

but could be early 60's. There are a few versions, some of the early one did not have any lume and the crown did not bear any marking. To me it is a great and fine find. Let's read what our Amanico will say.
And at worst fake. You said the dial is “unseen,” the hands are not right, and the logo should be one the crown. You did not say anything about the case back so I guess that maybe okay. Maybe I am leaning towards fake. We also have not seen the movement.
It has been a long time since I saw the last piece, but I recall seeing this version. I also saw a few Geomatic without a logo on the crown (same with some Chronometer of that era) I could be wrong, before jumping to fast conclusions, I think it is then well worth getting it checked by JLC Any chance of a movement photo ?
Chronomètre GEOMATIC. Ref E399 AGUTTES Geomatic (Dolphin Hands) Artcurial Geomatic (Dolphin Hands) La Cote Des Montres Geomatic (Dolphin Hands) Timepeaks Master Mariner Example (1 collector)
IMO, That piece needs to be authenticated Chronomètre GEOMATIC. Ref E399 Some time it is obvious, but here as it is I would not jump to a fast conclusion. You are right in saying we have to see the movement too I hope we will soon know
A catalog, I would think.
