This is my review of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic 1958 in platinum.  As there are already very comprehensive review in this forum ( for example this www.watchprosite.com ) I will not bore you with the historical details and -- as for most of my reviews -- it would mainly be photos and personal impressions/emotions from this watch. Why this and not something else? What makes this watch special to me ?

I can't say that the  Jaeger-LeCoultre Geophysic 1958 in platinum was a love at first sight for several reasons: I have first seen in the boutique the rose gold version almost one year ago. At that point
I have asked if I could get the platinum one. The Boutique told me that they would ask but were not sure if they could secure a platinum one. They then confirmed that they would get it but probably
at the end of the summer.

During the summer I travelled to New York and there was one available in the boutique. I have decided to wait and after my trip the watch was available at my local boutique. It arrived perhaps at the wrong moment
(too many incoming) and I was somehow disappointed that family and friends were not so impressed with this watch.

I decided to wait but somehow this watch was always in my head for several reasons: I admired the "tool" history of the watch and was impressed by the accuracy (that exceeds the COSC standards), anti-magnetic,
100 Mt water resistance and other innovations in the movement like the ceramic ball bearings (not that I am such a movement expert but it sounded innovative).

The hands of the watch made it also stand out as a very discreet watch yet special. As well discussed by our moderator Nicolas in his original review this is a watch for the "Connoisseur and not the show off guy".
Now to be clear I am not a vintage watch connoisseur and I had my own share of guilt regarding some "show off pieces" wink

Still I have a lot of love for pieces that are very discreet and elegant yet special e.g. limited editions like the Lange 1815 Anniversary.  In December I saw this watch again and I resisted the temptation to end the year
with yet another watch.

I was just thinking about this watch when last night I saw a photo of this watch posted just before the SIHH here and I got another inspiration to see if my watch was still available in the boutique.

It was so here is a watch that needs no introduction: the Geophysic 1958:

I am absolutely in love with the surface of the dial and the fact the the platinum dial is different

The blue strap is simply fantastic and something I have not seen in any other watch before.  It works well as a way to set this watch apart in a very subtle manner.

Here is the wooden box: I think it is the same for any of the geophysic so no premium for the platinum one smile

I really like this little booklet and the fact that this watch is a very limited edition makes it very special to me!

Here with the Jaeger-LeCoultre boutique sign in the background

Back in office

Here perhaps you can see the nuances of the dial and the shade of blue of the of the strap

Another close view of the dial and the lume dots that are true to a tool watch!

The back is closed and is not numbered xx/xx but I really don't mind that. I actually like the idea of just one of 58 without a specific number (every number can be a lucky one wink )

Different sunlight

Absolutely stunning: finally an amazing watch sized right 38.5 mm  is just perfect for my wrist

Without sunlight

Thanks again for reading -- or better said watching --  this short photographic review. I am very happy that I started this year with such a special watch from a great manufacture like Jaeger-LeCoultre.

What do you think about this watch? Feel free to share other photos if you like.

thanks again..I know the feeling as I also missed some great..

watches e.g. omega snoopy and some others but somehow I feel that if I can't find a watch is not meant to be. Always good to enjoy watches without getting obsessed by special editions

Ah, the Snoopy...

Another one I missed and regret not having known about sooner... Hope it gets on the secondary market at more normal prices soon. At the moment, with prices a factor two to over three over the original cost, I can sadly just observe and lust after it
