Amanico's initial review of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Calendar Meteorite at SIHH 2015 sparked considerable interest, particularly regarding the unique meteorite dial. His post delves into the aesthetic and conceptual synergy between the extraterrestrial material and the watch's moonphase complication. This article explores the community's first impressions of both the stainless steel and rose gold versions.

I already reviewed this watch here:

I was impatient to see the rose gold and the stainless steel version in the real, to say all, as I found and still find the idea to use a meteorite dial very inspired on a triple calendar moonphase watch.

Why inspired? For a simple reason which is not that simple to describe in words, curiously. Let's try to say that the use of a material coming from Space works very well with or amplifies the moonphase complication.

It fascinates, for those who are in love, who are intrigued with Space.

Now the important thing is to see how the meteorite dial looks, in the flesh.

The pictures below are showing prototypes, so we are not sure that the dials will exactly look the same. Jaeger Lecoultre told me that they were still wondering if they will to re work on this material, or not, so nothing definitive, here.

Clear grey for the stainless steel, dark for the rose gold, it is a good idea to differenciate the two dials depending of the color of the case. After, to know which one is your favourite is a matter of taste. I have a preference for the clear grey, personally.

Here they are:

With a piece of meteorite:

And on blue straw:

Another detail I appreciate is the " small " Master Case, with its 39 mm diameter and its relative thinness ( 10, 6 mm high ).

Still, I think JLC can do better, something like a 40 mm MUT case, for example, would be awesome.

A future construction work, for the Grande Maison?

Best.

at least for me, of course! My preference is definitely for the clear dial version (could be the real color of the material, polished and then treated with acid to bring out the structure), and with the pointer of the date in blue and not red as in the first images: it seems to be better combined with the colors of the whole, the shines of the steel, in addition to the fact that the day 31 is colored blue in the steel version... Hope to see it in metal very soon! Any further informations are wel

......2015 will be a moon phase year for me and the steel version here is one that I will need to think a lot about. I agree with you on the meteorite finish......it gives it something.

Q? Do you know if JLC will go for mixed blue/red (as in the first shot) or all blue (as in the last shot)? Thank you for sharing, my friend! Best Blomman

But I am always tired to set the exact moonphase... I may have a solution, on which JLC worked, lately. I will tell you more about that, but it is a smart application they are still improving. Best, Nicolas

The definitive version is on the last picture: All blue! Best, Nicolas

....like you, I find the setting of the moon a pain....which is probably why I would hunt for just one or two pieces.
