Nicolas (amanico) brings to light the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Ultra Thin 1907 White Gold Enamel, a timepiece that, despite its subtle differences from its Jubilee counterpart, carves out a distinct place in his horological affections. He delves into the nuances of its design, the significance of its Caliber 849, and the subjective considerations of its strap and price point. His perspective offers a valuable entry point for collectors considering this exquisite reference.

There are some watches which stay stuck in your mind. This is the case with the MUT 1907 White Gold Enamel.

Yes, it is one millimeter thicker than the MUT Jubilée, ( 5, 05 mm instead of 4, 05 mm ), because of its enamel dial, but who cares? The profile is as spectacular, with its knife shaped case, and the enamel dial and leaf shaped hands are just sublime.

And let's not forget that it is " powered " by the Cal 849, a milestone.

Two cons, though:

- The strap, which is so so for me. But it is something which can be fixed quite easily.

- The price... Which was way too high, compared to the pure bargain which was the platinum Jubilée...

Still, I think that is is one of my very favorite Master Ultra Thin, the only one to have such a delicious enamel.

Best,

Nicolas

Strange but lately I’ve started to develop interest in two handed watches. I used to think less of them but this very, very pure piece is very attracting. Reduced to a minimum but a really beautiful dial, nice hands and a nice case. Even the thickness is reduced to a minimum. Of course less is more. However I think it would not be as convincing if it wasn’t for the enamel dial and the white gold of the case.

But yeah, that platinum Jubilee, what a spectacular watch for the money! The more I think about it the more foolish I feel for not owning one.

Hmm! I wished they had an enamel dial on the Jubilee piece. But my favorite is actually the standard Master Ultra Thin (MUT) 38 in steel. It's got a great silvered dial, and the wider strap is much more comfortable to wear than the thinner strap on these fancy MUT piece. Put this simple piece on a black strap and change the buckle from a pin buckle to the folding double butterfly (the double-fold is thinner than the other deployant buckle with single-fold) and you've got a great MUT! I'm a littl

Maybe mine is defective! Mine looks very dry and matte.

I own both the MUT Jubilee in platinum and the MUT 38 in steel. Top reasons: 1. Cost, the Jubilee is expensive because of the platinum case and it's very limited. An excellent MUT 38 in excellent condition can be had for around 1/3rd the price of an excellent condition Jubilee platinum. 2. Comfort; the MUT 38 has a wider strap. Much more comfortable. 3. Comfort; the MUT 38 has a big crown for comfortable winding. The tiny crown on the Jubilee is painful to wind. Especially on a regular basis. 4.

Two hands can look lot in a dial if their lengths and shapes are not chosen gracefully. Writing on the dial can bring confusion too, but the two models i listed are perfection in my eyes! Best, E.
