I recently acquired a new timepiece which arrived on February 1st, a perfect way to start the Lunar New Year. I’ve always admired this watch but in my college days that’s all I could do was admire it. Now roughly a decade and a half later I’m in the fortunate position to acquire it. I’ve been lurking this forum on and off for many years and it’s about time I made more contributions.
I really enjoy the understated luxury of this watch, the cool grey dial, the thinness, the case material, and the size at 34mm. Not to mention the beautiful movement! By now some of you may know the watch I’m talking about…

I was lucky enough to find an example with original box and warranty card, apparently bought in Tokyo in 2005.

Yes, it is none other than the Master Ultra Thin 34mm with the calibre 849

The display back adds about another millimetre but how could I resist seeing this movement

Although I prefer a tang buckle to match the lightness of this watch, a folding deployant clasp is a nice bonus. And I can always source a buckle later.

Some fun in the snow to match the cool grey dial

Now now, don’t go in too deep

It joins another ultra thin, but it’s bigger brother is about 2mm thicker

The crown matches the watch perfectly but it makes winding a delicate affair. Ben Stiller would wisely prefer a crown at least… 3 times the size?

Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend. Hope you enjoyed the photos.

Kind regards,
Chris

Nice to finally aquire this dream!

I love appropriately sized watches and the "thinness complication" 👍

Thank you very much

It is indeed complicated to make these proportions, and apparently these are serviced in the same department as the grand complications at JLC.

Chris, well done! The MUT 34 is already a great watch, but in white gold with this grey dial, it adds an extra touch of elegance. BRAVO. As for the crown, it is perfect for this case, in my opinion.

Thank you Nicolas! Yes the grey and gold definitely elevate it.

It would be a crime to enlarge the crown, but my first time winding a crown so small. I couldn’t help but think of Zoolander.
