Nicolas (amanico) revisits the iconic Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Minute Repeater Antoine LeCoultre and its Boutique Edition counterpart, prompting collectors to consider how dial color profoundly influences a watch's perceived character. His detailed comparison highlights the historical significance and unique technical innovations that set the original white-dialed reference apart, inviting readers to weigh in on their aesthetic preferences.

We said it many times, but a different color may make a huge difference in the way you perceive a watch.

While I generally prefer a black dial, here I would go for the white dialed version, the original, the Antoine Lecoultre.

Why? Because it was the first one, released in 2005, and it made a huge impression on me. At that time, and still now, that was a crazy Minute Repeater! 15 Days power reserve, a torquemeter and a big revolution in the way the minute repeater system is built, with the gongs welded to the sapphire. And, cherry on the cake, the Antoine Lecoultre signature on the movement.

A detail the Boutique Edition doesn't have...

Both have a platinum case, so the sound is the same. A bit matte, compared to the Titanium or the white gold.

What's your preference?

Best,

Nicolas

It simply has more visual 'levity', so the density of all the details feels less 'congested'. I'm still hoping I'll get to see your Septantieme in person before the year ends .... Cheers, Filip
