Remarque, a respected member of the WatchProSite community, proposes a compelling vision for a 'purist' Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. His detailed concept leverages existing JLC components to create a timeless, antimagnetic, no-date timepiece. This article explores the feasibility and community reception of Remarque's innovative suggestion, highlighting the passion and collaborative spirit within the luxury watch collecting world.

With Nicolas' help, mayhaps we can convince JLC to produce a purist edition watch like this... I would be the first to commit to buying one, and would love to see them numbered as well. Since it is my idea, maybe I could reserve number 1 of X, if X watches are produced.

My idea:

I know that for manufacturers to seriously consider a venture, it should use parts which have already been tooled, to save cost. Hence, I propose

a 38.5mm case steel watch using the identical case used for the steel Tribute To Geophysic 1958 2014 watch, INCLUDING the TTG antimagnetic innards/Faraday cage for an antimagnetic watch. Solid steel caseback with numbered edition on caseback.

PLUS a modern true no date version of the new 899AC movement with 70 hour power reserve (no ghost crown position), BUT adjusted to a tighter chronometer grade -1 to +4 regulation (similar to what was done with the TTG1958 898/1 movement). With hacking seconds, of course.

AND with black dial a la black dial memovox pictured below, using applied arabics at 3-6-9-12 poles and thin arrowhead shaped indices at other hour markers, with (or without?) (neutral) lume dots at periphery also as on the memovox specimen

PLUS either dauphine OR sword hands (hands and arabic/indices hour markers all applied metal -- are they usually rhodium, not steel?) If the hands have lume, also neutral color to match lume dots

AND ONLY JL logo and scripted Jaeger-LeCoultre signature below the arabic 12. NO other text at all. No other colors/no extraneous distractions, superfluous decorations/etc)

Shipped with a classy black alligator strap.

We would end up with a completely timeless, classic and classy black dialed antimagnetic no date proper sized watch which could be my and yours journeyman last modern watch... I imagine JLC could produce this watch and sell it to us for $6000 per piece, a not unreasonable sum and good value imho.

I am not a photoshopper to create a rendition, but this would easily be done by someone else.

Again, this is using components that already exist in JLC's factory, just combining them in a different and special way. Attached are pictures of preexisting watches from which you can imagine my creation.

I envision say a run of 50 pieces. If we could get 50 solid commitments up front, and have Nicolas present the idea with the monies in hand, I think we could convince JLC to produce it.
Who is on board?
