I have always enjoyed the watches that put the fun back into rigourous mechanical engineering.

That is why it is so pleasant to wear a flip watch as the reverso.

Years ago, I was lucky enough to find one of the earliest version of the reverso.
Black dial, luminous index, "Reverso Luxe" written on the dial. This original version had been very famous since the first tribute to reverso 1931.

I also gave into the vintage central second version, in a pristine condition.
I am keen on the circle in the rectangle.

Concerning modern reverso, the GMT complication of the duoface offered me the good excuse to play with the two faces. This is a watch I enjoyed flipping again and again.

Black dial as a reminder of my 1931 vintage reverso... but with a bigger size.

White dial as a reminder of my central second reverso.... with also a circle in the rectangle.

With this trio of Reverso, everything could have been perfect ... but the red!

When I first saw the Tribute to Reverso 1931 Edition Rouge, in photo, I was attracted. But when I had the chance to see the watch in the flesh at the beginning of the year, it conviced me.

The new size and proportion make the watch fit perfectly on my wrist.

The red lacquered dial looks beautiful and pure with its silver indexes and the simple "Reverso" mark.

After several months of deep thought, I decided to take the plunge!

What a great pleasure! The dark red color can have so many variations depending on the light and makes the dial hypnotic.

This modern reverso is for sure a beautiful tribute to its original forebear.

Best,

Huge congratulations, Marv, my friend. This is one of these watches you have to see in the real, to wear, to feel, if you want to fully understand and enjoy it. And nothing to complain about, a the exception of the strap, which is, as often with JLC, not at the level of the watch. I should hurry to get one, before it gets discontinued... Best, Nicolas

I have not yet seen the Red in the metal. But your pictures give me a hint how different the dial can look like under different conditions. It seems to play in the field between bold and elegant. Have to see it one day. Enjoy it a lot and wear it in good health, Marv! Martin
