AnthonyTsai shares his impressions from a Jaeger-LeCoultre exhibition, where he encountered the new Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface models from SIHH 2016. His post highlights the allure of these new releases and seeks community input on his personal dilemma between two compelling versions.
I went to the JLC South Coast Plaza Boutique Chinese New Year celebration party this past Thursday. They setup an exhibition outside their store right in front of the escalators which is a perfect space for maximum traffic. It's a simple exhibition with 3 vitrines showcasing their watches. Below is a picture from the official opening celebration.
This exhibition if open to the public till Feb 14th, so if you're in the area, be sure to stop by.
Anyways, in the middle vitrine were some new Reverso's from SIHH 2016, and the one that caught my eye was this blue dialed Grande Reverso Ultra Thin Duoface. I've never owned a Reverso but have always wanted one for my collection.

This blue dialed version is slightly smaller than the original black dialed variant. The GMT pusher on the side of the case above the crown is now integrated inside the top of the case when you flip the watch dial out.
I'm smitten by both of these models but am leaning towards the black dial version solely because of its larger size and better presence on the wrist for me since I'm used to wearing super large watches.
Below are wrist shots of both models with both watch faces.
Which version do you like better?
Cheers,
Anthony
I prefer the Tribute Duo, to tell you all. But the Tribute Calendar is something. Still, Tribute Duo for me. It is really mesmerizing. And the size is perfect for my taste. Best, Nicolas
First was the Extreme Lab 2, and now possibly a Reverso. I'm still leaning towards the larger black one because it's also almost $3k cheaper too. And I like the look of the side pusher button too. These JLC events are dangerous! Cheers, Anthony
a. The older case proportions are more pleasing to my eyes, and the longer case looks great on your wrist. b. The “night” side of the older model is nicely lumed, which can be very handy. I don’t see any lume at all on the hands of the new version. c. The new version has fat, stubby hands which lack elegance and grace for a Reverso. The sword hands of the older Duo seem more appropriate. d. On the white dial side, I prefer the 1930s-looking square small seconds subdial, instead of the round smal
There is one thing which pleases me a lot, on the Tribute Duo... The courage, the guts to go for a smaller case. Which is against the marketing rules, and THAt, my friend, is a strong point for the latest, at least from my point of view. Best, nicolas
Hi Like the look of the new tribute. Do you have a shot of the time setting system. I know there's the current version with the button. and the first version had the pusher that you needed a cocktail stick to set. It'd be good to see the new setting system Cheers JML
But I prefer the more elegant sword hands of the older version The new Tribute\'s hands seem too thick for my liking for now. I may change my mind once I see it in the metal The size of the new version is more elegant IMHO Cheers Robin
