Amanico's 2008 post captures the excitement surrounding the arrival of the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Gyrotourbillon II in Paris, offering a first-hand account of this horological masterpiece. He meticulously compares it to its predecessor, the Gyrotourbillon I, highlighting the shift in design philosophy towards a more focused celebration of the multi-axis tourbillon. This article serves as an excellent resource for understanding the nuances and artistic intent behind JLC's iconic Gyrotourbillon series.

An impressive crown was expecting to go in the JLC Shop, this Saturday, to admire the Gyro Tourbillon II:

I took my precautions, and arrived at the opening of the Boutique, where our Bimbeano ( Filip ) joined me.

That's what we saw , two hours after, while going out of the Boutique, to have a nice lunch with some friends...

Wooooooow!

I have to say that it was worth the wait, as the Gyro II is indeed even better than when I saw it in Geneva.

In Geneva, then in London, we saw the prototype, in SS, as each proto at JLC...

Here, of course, as it is the definitive Gyro II, the case is in platinum, which gives an important weight to the watch, but a lot of pleasure when wearing it...

For me, and I try to stay objective, the Gyro II is THE watch of this year.

This is is spectacular watch, a piece which deserves to be placed in the exclusive world of the Pantheon of High Horology.

THe obvious idea JLC had whike imagining, creating this Time Keeper, was to concentrate their efforts and the design around and on the Gyro Tourbillon.

Look at these pics, it is obvious!

Now, what is interesting is to compare it to the Gyro I ...

The Gyro I is much more complex in terms of esthetics, and horology, as it is a Grande Complication watch which houses a Perpetual Calendar Retrograde, an Equation of Time, a 8 Days Power Reserve and a Gyro tourbillon...

Less simple and sober in its aspect, even if beautiful too, the played partition is not the same..

Here, with the Gyro II, no perpetual calendar, no equation of time, no 8 Days Power Reserve, nothing more than an indication of the power reseve ( 50 Hours ), a Day And Night indicator, the hour and the Gyro Tourbillon...

" Nothing Else ", and that is the purpose of this watch..Enhance the Beauty, the Class, the Magic of such a sophistication.

Even the Hour and Minute Dial is designed ( as the Gyro I ) as accessory, to let the main place to the Gyro Tourbillon...

And I like it!

You wil actually notice that the Gyro Tourbillon and the Dial of the Hour is designed in the same way for both of these watches.

On the Verso side, same thing, same idea and design...

The Gyro is the King, on both Gyro Tourbillon I and II.

Gyro I:

Gyro II:

On both Recto and Verso sides, the finish ias as impressive as it is artistic.

The blend of " Clous de Paris " and polished plates, anglages, and all the traditional work of Horology is here, for our greatest pleasure and satisfaction.

More, the outcome is outstanding when you play with angles and light...This is a show you'll never forget.

A spectacular shivering piece of Art.

I tried to take some macro pics of the beast, and due to light conditions, they are a bit so so...

But this Gyro II is even more impressive, and the finish just outstanding...

Look!

Recto side:

Verso Side:

This is to be known, the size of the Gyro II is quite as important as the Triptyque:

55mm ( same than the triptyque ) X 36 ( 1,7 mm less than the Triptyque ), and 17,67 ( 0, 23 mm less than the tritpyque )

BUT, believe me, on the wrist, and while seeing it in the flesh, yes you have the confirmation that this is a big and thick watch, BUT it is much more wearable than a Triptyque, way much more!

This is a Hell of a Tempting Watch, my friends...

I'm obsessed by it...

In fact, I have 2 options:

1/ I sell a big part of my collection to fund it.

2/ I sell my house..LOLOL

So, you got it, it was a pain to give it back to the Boutique...

Hope you liked this topic.

Best.

Nicolas.

PS 1: If you want to know more about it, please go and read the fabulous review Jerome made...

jlc.watchprosite.com

PS 2: The crowd gathering just near the JLC Boutique was ewpecting the free visit of the Ministery of Justice, not the Gyro II...LOLOLOL

PS 3: I want here to thank once again the JLC Boutique, well, the Usual Suspects, Elisabeth, Julie, Philippe, Roch and Jerome, for their warm welcome!

SUPERB. This is ART, plain and simplely. And the pics are wonderful, as always, Nicolas. Next week, friday, in Madrid, in an AD will be the following watches: • Reverso a Triptyque • Master Minute Repeater platino • Master Minute Repeater titanio • Gyrotourbillon 1 • Atmos Marc Newson • Polaris • Reverso platino nº1 • Reverso platino nº2 • Duometre platino • Duometre oro…. I am affected by the virus JLC, so I think I'm going to go. Thanks for the post, the great post. Emilio.

... photo-studio ...LOL .... Hi Nicolas, you can always sell your house to fund this watch; as i told you, there are enough bridges in Paris .... Seeing the pictures is almost as seeing it in the flesh; it seemed a bit surreal to me as i observed the gyro through the loupe. This is really an amazing piece. I was truly a day to remember and great fun ... A bientôt, mon ami ... filip PS. Next time we'll take the back-entrance so we don't have to wait for two hours again ....

What a fantastic report! This watch is absolutely amazing (both Gyro I and II). Maybe exchanging it for most of your current collection may not be so bad...?
