Unveiled in 2012, the Grande Reverso Calendar, available in steel or rose gold, was warmly welcomed.

The Grande Reverso Calendar from 2013:

Its generous size, 48, 5 x 29, 5 x 10, 24 mm, and classic dial were a success.

In 2016, Jaeger Lecoultre revisits this model, and somehow, improves it. Its new name? Reverso Tribute Calendar, one of the three members of the Reverso Tribute family.

The Reverso Tribute Calendar is slightly bigger, larger and thicker than its former " sister " ( 49, 4 / 48, 25 mm, 29, 9 / 29, 5 mm / 12, 06 / 10, 24 mm ), which, on the paper, looks quite big. On the wrist and in the real, I had the surprise to think that it was smaller. Strange, or is it a sign that the proportions are excellent?

As its name suggests, you have here a triple calendar, plus a moon phase, like its predecessor.

What its name hides is what is revealed by the verso dial: its second time zone.

And that is THE big difference with the former Grande Reverso Calendar.

Because it is called Tribute, the new Reverso Calendar has some elements of style borrowed to the former Tribute line, and shared with the other Tribute, the Duo.

The obvious common points are the applied indices, and the hands. Even if the hands have been reworked, re designed if you compare them with the Tribute To Reversos we saw between 2011 and 2015. They adopt a new style, shorter, but facetted, at the contrary of the Tribute Duo.

Exit the classic dial we well know from the Grande Reverso Calendar, with its guilloché and smooth silver texture, welcome the grained dial and its long, thin and facetted applied indexes. Another detail borrowed to the Tribute To Reverso Line. A coherent choice, in my opinion.

Exit the view on the movement, which was the Cal 843, welcome the other dial, showing the other complication, the dual time.

This verso dial is treated in a different way, blending hobnail for the outer part, and a smooth round " sub dial " in the center, receiving the applied hour markers and hands.

Interlocked in the dual time dial, the day night indicator, treated in a quite modern way.

Silver on the recto, anthracite on the verso, both colors work well with the rose gold case, which is the only metal available for the moment.

The good question is to know of another metal will be available, in the next years. My guess is yes, but it is only my guess.

As this watch is a triple calendar and ALSO a dual time, the big question was to know how you set the time on the verso dial...

I could check it in the real and the answer is... Like on the other Tribute, the Duo, through a trigger hidden on the case, at 6 o clock, which is an excellent point, much better than the disgracious pusher we had on the former Duo Face. Bravo for that.

As for the movement, it is the Calibre 853, which is basically the same than the former Cal 843, but with some changes, mainly the mechanism of quick dual time setting through the trigger.

So, we have the same alternances per hour, 21600, and of course, a manual winding movement.

I was not a big fan of this Tribute Calendar when I saw the pictures, but as said before, the in the real experience made me change my mind. I appreciated its consistance, and its elegant look.

I regret the presence of the three integrated pushers, which are dedicated to the change of the day, date and month. I would have preferred a simpler system, like on the JLC perpetual calendars, whose datas can be changed through only one pusher.

Still, my favorite is the other Tribute, the Duo, which is a pure marvel we'll review soon.

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Best,

Nicolas

This is, at first glance, very attractive. But I do not find it compelling; for a few reasons: 1. The pushers, which you discuss; 2. The placement of the date windows - hmmm - I'm not sure about these. Woudl it have appeared more harmonious to have the JLC signature above the windows? But then perhaps that was not a technical possibility. 3. The 'Night' and 'Day' text on the second time zone side. There is an arrow at 6 o'clock telling the wearer what to look at - why do we need this text on the

I have a few thoughts on this model... 1. I think having the silver front and anthracite back allows for a nice, rich, black strap, as well, for more formal wear. If JLC incorporates the new deployment buckle - which first appeared on the Lady Squadra - and incorporates a trigger-release on the spring bar as well, it will make it a snap to go back and forth between straps and buckles. 2. I think that at around $25k, this piece is awesome! I know that JLC desires to get their "entry level" higher
