Takman introduces his first fine watch, a Jaeger-LeCoultre Ultra Thin Reverso, marking a significant step up from his previous collection. His post provides a personal perspective on choosing this specific Reverso model over the more commonly discussed Tribute to 1931 versions. This offers a refreshing take for new collectors navigating the world of luxury timepieces.

Hi everyone,

Please enjoy some photos of my first fine watch... quite a step up from my mainly Japanese (Seiko, Citizen, and Casio) and Swatch dominated collection.

A view of the back, I will have to think of something nice to have engraved.

I really like this android app, it beats the iphone's imo. Although I upgraded from the iPhone 3g, so maybe the 4s is capable of this as well? But this is not a post about cell phones.....

I loved this watch when I first saw it from the photos at SIHH 2011, and I thought it would be a good introduction to the watches at JLC. I am surprised that I only see collectors posting photos of the Tribute to 1931 versions, but I prefer this one and I hope you don't mind my photography. I'll try to take some better pics with natural light, but the weather here in Vancouver is being very typical of Vancouver (rain, rain, and more rain). It wears great and I love its simplicity and under the radar style.

It's unfortunate that I couldn't get a Piaget after my trip to Switzerland, but a Reverso has been on my mind for such a long time now.

Have a great week all,

Chris

with a Reverso in my opinion. The thin profile looks great. I look forward to seeing what you get engraved on the back. Stewart

I really don't have much of an idea of what I would like, and the thought of sending it away isn't very appealing at this point... maybe I'll have made up my mind by the time I need to send it for a service. Chris

You opted for the dressy Grande Reverso UT, while others go for the historical one. Is it a bad choice? Certainly not. Why others went on the TT R 31? Because they were used to the classic dial of your watch, and wanted something with a stronger historical background, that is all. Honestly, yours is very chic. Bravo! Nicolas

Good choice and a great start. Perhaps later on, consider engraving it's caseback. Am planning to do that for my TT31 one day

No one watch is meant to be for everyone. So it is better for you to get this one now than for you to get the Tribute, wear it for a while and discover that you still want this one. I think two factors that contributed to the favoritism are first fidelity to the original and second the deviation from the usual JLC lineup. A friend of mine is considering one of these watches and he doesn't know what to inscribe on the back. I told him he might want to consider the birthdate of the baby he is expe

you have chosen a simple and timeless Reverso for your first JLC and I am sure you will never tire of wearing it. Enjoy it. Regards. Simon
