Amanico introduces the Jaeger-LeCoultre Duomètre Unique Travel Time in rose gold, a significant release from SIHH 2014 and his favorite from the 2013 collection. This post delves into the watch's key characteristics, including its dual-wing concept, unique independent minute hand, and jumping digital hour, offering a detailed look at its functionality and aesthetic appeal compared to its white gold predecessor.

I have written a lot on the Duometre UTT, as it was and still is my favourite Watch from the 2013 Collection.

It first came as an exclusivity for the opening of the Paris Boutique, in a limited edition of 100 pieces in white gold.

The White Gold Limited Edition for the Paris Boutique:

This year, without any surprise, it comes in rose gold, as it was announced to me during the SIHH 2013.

Here are three articles on the Duometre UTT:

2/ The on the wrist report:

3/ The comparative review:

The key characteristics of the Duometre Unique Travel Time are:

- A 42 mm case, 13, 65 mm high.

- A classic finish of the dial, which is grained, where the time and the complication ( Travel Time, here, of course ) are clearly separated.

- Two power reserve indicators: One for the time, one for the complication.

- A night and day 24 hours ring ( + 12 / - 12 ) surrounding the globe.

- Two distinct barrels and gear trains ( one for the time, the other for the complication ), which corresponds to the dual Wind concept.

- A jumping hour and an independant minute hand which moves my increment of one minute.

How does it work?

The Duometre UTT is simple and complex at the same time. It takes a bit of time to understand how it works, but once you get it, it is really simple, almost intuitive.

First of all set your GMT Time ( don't forget that Paris is GMT +1 ) shown on the inner ring surrounding the globe. Use the pusher at 8 and 10 o' clock for that. the Triangle at 6 o clock is your repere.

Then, set your home time with the crown pulled at the maximum, and your second time with the crown pulled at level 1.

The Duometre UTT will allow you, as said above, to use the minute hand independantly on the second time zone, independantly from the minute hand of your home time, which is a pretty unique feature I explained in my comparative review.

The association of a minute hand which moves by increment and a jumping digital hour is another exquisite and refined detail of this watch.

That being said and reminded, let's now focus on the Rose Gold version of the " UTT ".

You will find, with pleasure the grained dial, with some touches of rose gold on the applied initials of the Manufacture, hour numbers and hands of the local time and power reserve indicator, and, more discrete detail, on the frame surrounding the jumping hour window of the time zone.

These touches of rose gold, matching with the case, give a totally different visual approach of the Duometre UTT.

It has more contrast, has a warmer look, and gives a pleasant retro touch, while the white gold version looks more modern, but cold, too.

Here are the live pictures of this novelty, in its natural environment, the Trip:

You will also notice another slight difference with the Paris Boutique Edition: The " 7 " and " 9 " of the jumping hour are not painted in red, but, as the other hours, in black.

Two more conventional pictures:

And a side by side picture of the two versions, to appreciate their different character and cosmetic:

The movement is of course the Cal 383.

It is a movement made of 498 parts, with 54 jewels, beating at the pace of 21 600 vibrations per hour, 7, 25 mm high and 34, 30 mm big, offering a double autonomy of 50 hours ( 50 hours for the local time, 50 hour for the time zone ).

One of the strong points of the Duometre, for sure:

One detail on the pin buckle, which I find quite pretty, with the JL signature applied on it:

One last information: This version is not limited, and is available worldwide.

Looking forward to reading your comments and thoughts,

Best,

Nicolas. This message has been edited by amanico on 2014-01-08 00:08:56 This message has been edited by amanico on 2014-01-08 00:17:10 This message has been edited by amanico on 2014-01-10 23:30:56

Well if I had a time machine , I would take the clock back to 5 years ago: back then no Duometre watch was revealed, and if this version if the UTT came out then, I would be just on the floor in shock and debotion( exactly how I felt when I first saw the Duometre a chronograph!). These days, another Duometre in rose gold with grained dial is not such a shock, a bit of a déjà vu if I may say. A classic formula that prevents me from saying"wow!". Also as an owner of the chronograph in rg, I am so

.. at this moment : I unchanged would stick to the WG version with this cool look, - also because I'm no real gold guy (also in my profession), really. The slight modifications are doing well, the grained dial is undoubtedly a major asset making a very attractive package.. especially for those, looking for more "blink".. Apart from the "wallet factor" , I guess I would rather pass by, and think - well, logical successor - and as a travel watch -tool - in RG … I don' really know.. Thank you for t
