In the world of independent watchmaking, the decision to acquire a piece from a smaller atelier often comes with unique considerations regarding longevity and after-sales support. Furen, a seasoned collector, initiates a crucial discussion on the Lang & Heyne Georg, seeking community insights on the brand's enduring quality and serviceability, especially in light of founder transitions. This article distills the collective wisdom of WatchProSite members, offering a comprehensive perspective for those contemplating an investment in this distinctive German marque.

Hi, In the process of getting the Lang and Heyne Georg. Any owners in the forum? I would like to get your feedback? Or what is your opinion regarding the brand? My only concern is longevity. My only independent as of the moment is an fpjourne and i truly believe it will outlive the owner. (I dont wish anything bad with the owner). But you want the brand have longevity with after sales service. Lastly, what you guys think about the quality of Lang and Heyne?

I’m not currently an owner but have handled and discussed several Lang and Heyne watches. The quality is excellent in my opinion and relatively under the radar as a manufacturer. Good luck with your journey. Best regards Captain

I once owned a Fredrich lll. Someone was having a look at it and dropped if from 1.5 metres to the ground. The watch kept perfect time despite of the fall. The only snag I can see with this brand is the fact that both the founders have left the brand. Marco Lang in particular was a huge driving force behind the brand and one would almost certainly buy a Lang and Heyne after meeting him. I love independent brands and I also love the larger more established brands. You get a certain degree of excl

These are watch movements made like they do already 200 years. So I guess a good watchmaker can service your watch of necessary. And even can make or reproduce some parts if they would need to be replaced. On the other hand…. I have the same doubts when buying something like HYT or Ressence. I really doubt your average watchmaker will be able to help you. But movements made the old fashioned way …. Can’t imagine it will ever be a problem

This is EXACTLY my opinion. Apart from very specific models or Indies the big majority are making their caliber in the traditional way with an amazing finishing. So service and maintenance should not be a problem with a qualified watchmaker.

I never owned a L&H Georg but had the opportunity to see one at different occasions and can confirm it looks gorgeous and the finishing is top notch. As for the maintenance I would not worry at all as mentioned in some other posts of this thread. If you can and like it my only advice is to proceed and make your dream come true 😉

Good to hear they have resolved it. Thinking it is a simple time only watch, i would not have problems.
