TheMadDruid recounts his visit to the A. Lange & Söhne NYC Boutique to experience the 2016 novelties, including the Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon and the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds. His photo-essay captures the beauty and complexity of these new releases, offering a collector's perspective on their design and wearability.

I had a chance to the visit the Boutique to see Lange's newest pieces. I had seen several in Glashuette recently when visiting the manufactory, but not all of them-particularly perhaps the two most spectacular ones. So this was something I was looking very forward to.

NYC presented the watches to visitors by way of appointment (I don't know if other Boutiques digit this way) and each invitee sat down with a representative who showed the pieces. Three people, including myself, were at the Boutique when I was there, and three reps were passing around the watches.

I can tell you that those I chose to handle did not disappoint.

The movement does not disappoint. Perhaps more beautiful in this version that anything Lange has done before regarding the Dato/DS/Dato Perpetual. It looks elegant and it looks massive at the same time; yet the watch sits pretty well on the wrist. This was one I did not see in Glashuette.

Next up, the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds-the one i most wanted to see and strap on.

Simple face, but so unusual with the prominent seconds dial.

I wish you could have seen the smile on my face as I took this photo! I wish I could have seen it! My wrist was feeling as lucky as Fx's wrist when he shoots all those fantastic shots of all those fantastic watches he tries on. This one is a winner!

The last watch I want to feature is one that seems to have remained under the radar pretty much.

This is not a new model, merely new metal and new dial color. But it is absolutely gorgeous. A fine addition to Lange's collection.

It was quite hard to leave the Boutique after seeing these beauties. I did. And i have lived to tell about it. Hope you all enjoy this little photo-essay!

I knew that you would not be disappointed by the Datograph PC Tourbillon... it is a true masterpiece even if I stay with the Richard Lange Jumping Seconds! About the appointments, the Paris boutique didn't organize them: you entered the boutique and asked to see a specific piece. But the more complex ones were not available in Paris. Thanks for your report! Fx

No worries, just wait till another blizzard and I'm sure that RLJS will come to the rescue. I'm also very interested in that RLJS but my wallet doesn't ), at least in the near future. Rgds Raymond

Dato Perpetual Tourbillon, can any man made device get better than that? At least for me that is a true dream watch. Actually, I probably won't even be able to dream about it :-(

Tried it on and was amazed how wearable it was considering the complexity of it. The movement of it is also a feast for the eyes. Thanks for the report. Best Moritz
