Darron's insightful post sheds light on the unique and often misunderstood "dead donkey" winder box accompanying the A. Lange & Söhne Langematik Perpetual. This article explores the origins of its nickname, its practical implications for collectors, and the evolution of its design, drawing on community expertise to provide a comprehensive overview of this distinctive accessory.

I am not in favor of these winders. I prefer setting the calendar, and giving the watch some rest.
Insistent to get the LP with 10:00 pusher..so I can put the watch down… let the PR run it’s course and pick it up in a week or two and not have to re-set everything via toothpick or manually advance through the crown by going through the days (which currently is my solution for my AC).
If it’s an OEM packaging then shouldn’t all such pieces be sold with this? Or is it an additional cost that you have the choice to take or leave? Thanks.
Or as time went on they stopped including them for cost savings. Like companies going from folding clasp to pin buckle.
As this model is discontinued… my comment is more towards those that are looking for complete sets; many times the sellers don’t want to ship the watch with the heavy winder (high insurance high weight) = high expense. All new Lange LP come with this winder box; so no issue.
But the LP is actually discontinued now (but they still have some limited versions still available I believe).
